View Full Version : Throwing in the towel!

High Pressure

My dad and I have been working on our dream car, a 55 Chevy Belair for over three years now. This car has a ton of money invested and could be a cover car in any pro touring mag when finished. I will include a couple links where you can view the car if you would like in its current state. We have decided to throw in the towel as the price of this build has gotten a little out of control. I am wondering if there is suggestions for a good place to market a project like this?

Here is a link to the motor that Tom Nelson built for us:

Thanks for your help!!

That is a nice looking project. Good luck with the sale. It should not be hard to sell once you find the right guy. Just finding that right guy for an unfinished project can be tough. Hot Rod Hotline has projects that have sold signs, so maybe there. The Goodguys Gazette might also be another good spot.

Good luck

We are at the point where there has been to much money spent on the car and there is still alot left to finish it the way we invision it. We are true car enthusiats but this car has beaten us up!! I think it is better that we sell it and move on! The car has almost everything it needs to be finished except for glass. We have a full Caddilac interior with heated and cooled seats and very high end leather and carpet. Almost everything is there. Its not that we don't have the money we are just tired of throwing it away! When this car is all said and done if we finished it there would be over 300K in it and be worth 150-200k maybe.... Better to cut our losses now...

Thanks for your comments,
HP

Kenny I sent you a pm.

You might get more return on investment if you finish it.
Not sure what project car like this will bring, but its hard to get top dollar for a project.

I agree just not sure I want to find out. I am not sure what it will bring either but I have to start somewhere. I guess I will toss it up on Hot rod Hotline and maybe flebay.

Its your dream car and your spending quality time with your dad. That should answer your question.

Who cares how much you have invested or what it is worth. We all have too much money in our cars. Its what we do.

I think that sums it up well. You'll take a bigger bath selling it unfinished I would think. Plus the years of saying...."man if We'd only gone that little bit further." I can see if it was something sitting in the back rusting and you just never got around to it but and active project that even in bare metal looks beautiful should be finished. Especially if You can afford it.

Is this a for sale ad? Sort of seems like it. How about posting a price?

Obviously he cares, that's the point of the thread. :)

Sometimes one gets tired of throwing money at something that you'll never get back. And maybe the budget is just tapped.

I know, these cars aren't an investment, you'll never get your money back, blah blah, blah... but they're suppose to be fun, and to me loosing money is never fun.
