I picked up a 69 coupe back in July with the intent of posting the project as I went. I am finally getting around to it. Here are the starting pics. The car is a pre Dec 68 car built in Norwood CA. It does have PS, PDB front, AC. It was originally Fathom green with green interior and a black vinyl top. Most of the sheet metal is in pretty good shape and so is the front subframe. The car needed a floor and rework of the trunk. There is no glass, dash area, engine, trans. The interior might can be saved.

Take a look.

Thanks for the interest all. I will post some more pics tonight. I have done quite a bit already. My intention is to keep the classic look but with modern technology for the mechanicals. I am leaning towars Candy Apple Red but might go Garnet Red. So far I have:

Edelbrock intake and throttle body
Doug's Headers
T56 magnum from Hurst Drive Lines
12 bolt posi with 3.73 gears- installed
Heidt's 4 link Suspension -installed
Rear disc brakes
New floor pan
Front seats from a 2010 Camaro 1SS from Texas Speed
Vintage Air AC/heat from Matt's Classic Bowties
Vintage Air front runner system for the LS from Matt's Classic Bowties

Here are the pics with the new floor pan installed. I started here so I could practice my welding skills after learning on some scraps. The toe box area and the trunk pans were able to be saved.

With the rear end and gas tank removed, I used stripper in a tank sprayer then a pressure washer to knock most of the crud off. I went back with 60 grit sanding disc to knock of the rest. This was a little tough but worked in the absence of a rotesserie. The tank sprayer was toast when I was done!

Here are some shots of the Heidt's 4 link installed along with the 12 bolt posi. The kit installs easy enough. Just have to pay attention to the pictures in the instructions.

Since I was able to get the car turned in the garage I knocked a bit of work over the last few weeks. I rebuilt the suspension and added tubular A arms along with Hotchkiss 2 inch drop springs.

The real accomplishment was getting the T56 married up to the LS6 Crate engine. The Hurst Driveline package is very inclusive and goes together smooth. The only hitch is the installation of the crossmember. Some better pics and instructions there would have been nice. I went with a Center Force clutch set up.

I started the install on the Vintage Air front runner system and Vinatage Air AC. I have a few things to finish up with it.

I suck at body work so I opted for the easy way and added a smooth aluminum plate to the firewall.

man that rear suspension looks awesome!! Could a flowmaster exhaust kit still fit over axle and exit out the back straight out? Reason why I ask is my exhaust system is completed but would like to go to a set up like yours. Also my rear frame rail is notched as per DSE instructions and it looks like you have a bracket bolted up there?

Once past the axle there is more room than before. I will try and get a picture from the transmission side back towards the pinion. I think there might be a bar in the way for an off the shelf system.

This is definitely my favorit part of the car! Here it is after the inner fenders are installed and the outers reattched.

The standard SS hood would not fit so I had to get a cowl hood. I still had to cut the interior front center brace to clear the the throttle body. I then stripped off about 8 coats of paint and primer. The rattle can primer is to hold it over until the paint guy is ready.

I opted for the DSE electric conversion for the hide away lights. They go in super easy and per the instructions.

I chose the Centerline Lazers for wheels. I went with 18X8 on the front and 18x9.5 on the rear. Still need brakes installed but I will wait until after paint so I can put the stock 14s back on. I dropped the front 2 inches with Hotchkiss springs. I am still tweaking the stance on the rear springs.

I has been a while since I posted updates. I finally got the project to the body shop. The stripped and media blasted the car. They place a quick primer on it to protect it from rusting.

How about the diamond plate rocker panels? The look is sick on a 69 Camaro!

JK

I was really pleased with the smoothness and reflection.

Personal Touch Body Werks in Millington TN did a great job. A big thanks to Jerry, James, Howard, William and Allen.
