I don’t post many up dates on my car, but some one recently brought up an old post about my car and asked if there were any updates. So I rolled the car out side today to get some pictures.

Wow! I need to spend more time in the "Project Update" topic!! That's the sickest stance I've seen on a 1st gen in a real long time. Way to go Brian.

Don't ask what parts he bought to make it happen boys and girls, 'cause Brian pretty much made all the hard parts himself. Awesome!!

The stance came out good in fact it is a little to low I cant get the car in my trailer with out putting a floor jack under the front jack of the trailer and jacking it up so that the rear tires of the truck are about 3 inches of the ground and the rear door is basically flat.

Jake the wheels are Boyd coddington codzillas I bougth them about three years ago and my feelings on them change every time I look at the car some days I want get rid of the for some type of forged wheel, and some times I think they look really good. Regardless I still need bigger front wheels Katz designed the front end for a 10.5 inch rim with a 295 tire. I also want to run 18s up front and 17 in the rear. The rear tires are currently 335 35 ZR17.

I don’t know how far the engine is set back is I have nothing to reference the original location from.

I think the flush mount glass came out well still need to make the top of the fenders and the cowl longer to cover over the glass similar to the way late model cars and trucks do.

Did any one notice the mirrors I think they look awesome.

what a difference a 35 series tire makes!!!! adds some chunk back there, really helps with your killer stance on the 67-68 body, nice work!!
yeah i went with some forged ccw wheels, i will have some pics of car at ride height in a few weeks and will share them.
yeah are the mirrors c5's???

No, I said 18 in the front ant 17 in the rear I need the 18 to clear the breaks and 17s have a better tire selection for the rear. I doubt most people will notice it unless I tell them.

What are you using for front springs? Torsion bars? Thats the only spring that could hide or is this an early pic while on jig?

That is going to be one bad ass car. Like the setup. The wheelbarrow firewall came out great. I like the look of no rear spoiler. Will it stay that way?

It will have regular coil over mounted in the standard position inside the control arms. I just haven’t got that far I need to install the roll cage first that is where the upper spring mount will be. For now there a some peaces of tubing that are notched to fit over the lower control arm and rest in between it and the frame to hold the car up.

I have some pictures of the jig and when I was building it I will put them up latter tonight.

You can read all about the suspension In PHR I believe it is the May edition. Check out the 1 G suspension I built in my driveway article. This is on John parsons car IImuch, But my car has the same exact setup that was widened by the designer Katz to fit in my car. I machined most of the parts for Johns set up and made all of the parts for my car.

I sorry for bringing this up if it has already been covered...but where did you get that plastic LS1 from?

Awesome looking project!

I got it from jp, but it is made by P-ary.
Here is there site Link (http://www.payr.com/)

Edit: just thought of this It doesn’t have crank snout to mount a balancer on.
I bought an old cracked timing cover off e-bay for 5 buck and welded a piece inside the cover to hold the balancer on.

Great lookin car.

What are those mirrors?

B Schein
01-11-2006, 12:16 PM
The mirrors are from a 99 Buick lasaber. There are five different gm cars that use this mirror I have a list of them I can get latter. I think they look way better than the C5 stuff much smaller. I don’t know why know one else has used them yet.

Brian,

I bought those same mirrors on ebay about 2 months ago. Alot more compact than the C5. Glad to see what they will look like installed. Thanks

Now was the insatll easy? Did you just trim the bases of the mirrors to match the door? How did you trim them, or what with, to get it to match the door?

Brian,
Could you elaborate on how you flush mounted the window and where you got the seals?

Thanks,
Michael

Wow. That looks really nice. I love the stance, the way the firewall was done, mirrors, flush mount glass... the list goes on and on... Great work, man. I was also interested in how to flush the glass, and where you got those seals... I've been tossing this idea around for awhile, but I'm just not to that point yet. Awesome car, man.

Did you have to modify the base to get it to fit? I saw a Lesabre on the highway tonight and it looks (at 60mph at least) like the mounting surface on the Camaro is a lot closer to vertical than on the Buick.

Ya mind snapping a close up of the mounting area?

Hello Brian!!

What a privilege to "meet" you. I have been huge fan of Johns nova and think hes front suspension is one of the best i have ever seen. Those billet components really gave me a punch for my own project. So it was you who machined them!!!! :hail: !!!

Could you show your billet stuff more? Its really intresting!!

Thanks!!!

I am also a big fan of IIMuch and never made the connection that you were the Brian that machined the parts for JP. :hail: :hail:

Keep the updates coming I love to see this stuff.

I concur the stance of your car is killer.
