Hello,

I'm a new member to Lateral G, however I've looked at the site and members rides for months now. I'm about to lower my 69 camaro and would like some feedback on the best possible move. I currently have Hotchkis 2" lowering springs up front and a landrum monoleaf in the rear. I'd like to lower the front a little more and the rear about 1-2 inches. I was going to go with a CPP 2" drop spindle upfront and a Hotchkis 2" lowering leaf. Any thoughts? I have stock disk brakes on the car now, but would eventually like to add a big brake kit from Baer or Wilwood. Will these big brake kits fit on a CPP drop spindle?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

You don't want drop spindles. Just take a coil out of your Hotchkis coils.

Hotchkis leafs are a good choice for the rear.

Thanks for the advice. Any reason I dont want the drop spindle?

Then can pose a wheel fitment problem. They limit the about of backspacing that can be used on the front wheels, to much and the wheel could hit the tie rod.

That, and they're just and added expense that's not needed.

Thank you so much for the info. I'm running a 17X8 front rim now. I've always heard if you cut a spring the ride changes dramatically. Will taking out 1 coil make the really stiff?

If that wheel has over 4.5" of backspacing, which it probably does, then you really don't want a drop spindle.

As far as your ride changing, I doubt you'd even notice.

Any recommendation on what shocks to use with the new lowered stance?

Hotchkis shocks made by Bilstien .

Give Mark at SC&C a call. For better handling and improved geometry, tall ball joints and adjustable upper A-arms (SC&C stage 2 kit) would be a better option for the front.
