That's nuts! Very cool old pics and wild little slice of history. My God, the fumes!? Makes my head hurt just thinking about it. Thanks for sharing.

That's crazy...yet very cool because of the history. My wife grew up in Chicago and most of her family is still there...great city. Someday we will probably live there again. Thanks for sharing Ken.

That was at the Amphitheater on the south side around 43rd St. I believe. That place was torn down years ago. I saw Evel Knievel there when I was a kid in the 70's.

I showed my dad those pictures and he told me been there done that :hail: In 63 he and my uncle raced there. He is looking for the pictures. So cool :thumbsup: Torn down in 1999. Back in the 90's we used to "cough cough" street race behind there, saw some very fast street cars back there at 2 or 3 in the morning.

How long was the track and shutdown area?

The shutdown was 660Ft long, but it was past a set of doors they had to drive through. Crazy!

I remember going there as a kids to see the circus and my dad would tell that when he was a kid he used to drag race in there.
