Ben,
Goodguys is looking forward to seeing what the designers all come up with. There is no limitations on this at all.
Also we would like the designer to come up with the projects name!
Currently the 55 chevy we are doing is called "CleanAir55" as it has the e-rod engine in it.
Look forward to your rendition, I am sure it will be great.
Goodguys Ed
Good to see you here, Ed. Don't be such a stranger!
I was excited to hear about this last month when you told me about it at Pleasanton and think it's a fun project and cool challenge for everyone. I'm in and looking forward to seeing what all the guys come up with.

Nice to hear that you will be joining the others on this design of the next Goodguys Giveaway Car the 1970 Challenger, I'm sure on one thing with you, it will have Rushforth Wheels!!!
This is a great way for you and all the artist to gain some new customers by showing off their work in the Goodguys gazette and on the web sites as well as the SEMA show and all the events.
Look forward to seeing you in Texas!! Should be great as always!!!

That's the one that Rodger and I worked on I believe. Maybe Rodger should paint it "green" rather than red. LOL

Maybe since we are building it, I should make special requests on what we'd like to see!!!! Am I allowed Ed? I know one thing. This car is going to be over the top with the few people that I know that are on board with us already. I can't wait to get started. I may have to change my kids last name so they can stand a chance to win this car. I just think this idea is killer just imagine with all the talent on hand how can only one be picked. Maybe we should build few. So we have a backup. We all know I could use it!!!

Ok let's see you put your money where your mouth is. How about a wedge sectioned, chopped top, wide body, channeled, Altered wheelbase, 12" engine set back, Lamborghini suspended, gasser that is Turbine powered, with dual rear axles, that is airbagged, with a convertible, lead sled deuce coupe roadster, restomod, pro-touring, coup'e, Fastback, with a 350/350 with a 9" rear.
I think that would be awesome.

Curt, If you think you need to build two so you can drive one and we can have one to giveaway that's cool!!!
Let's get the first one done and go from there.
We try to rotate at Goodguys. This year the Ford BOSS SNAKE, next year the Chevy CLEANAIR55 and then the Dodge Challenger...Looks like we will be back to a Ford for 2013, maybe a Cougar!!! Who knows. We will throw it back at you designers!
Rodger, the one your building is pretty plain jane so maybe we should have Curt design what he want you to do to the CLEANAIR55 to give you a little extra work with the extra time you got on it compared to him.
Hope you all get the the event in Texas this week as it is going to be over the top....
Thanks to all the artist that are jumping on this deal. We look forward to all your work.

Speaking of Plain Jane....how come I didn't get to stretch my legs a little on the 55? That Boss Mustang had a ton of cool mods. I'm really gonna have to go nuts on this Challenger then...heh heh heh.

risking exposure of a total lack of brain/mouth filter ..... why only one month?
edit: see this is what brain/mouth filters are for. I read again, carefully this time while not doing 14 other things.

Plain Jane or not what are you really going to do to 1955 Chevy Convertible that improves the overall design of one of the most popular body styles of all time?
That's like saying Yeah Megan Fox could use some work. Sure she could use a bikini, over a pair of Jeans. But I think Between Kenny, Tracy and myself, along with all the other suppliers and vendors involved in the project. One thing I know for sure there will be room Mister Big Head himself to drive in this convertible. :D :D :D

No doubt, they are gorgeous. Though I wouldn't have a career if I wasn't constantly thinking about ways to personalize a car and try new things.
I see you were reading that post about Megan Fox on PT...LOL.

Nice to see a few of you at SEMA this past week.
We are getting down to the final 20 days for you to send me your renditions for the contest.
Please have them to me by Dec. 1st
Thanks Ed
Last couple months have been very busy for wheels and designs but mine is on the drawing board as we speak and will be turned in before the deadline. I'm looking forward to seeing all the different takes on an already cool bodystyle.
If you haven't finished yours, there's still time to throw some Rushforth Wheels on yours! Mine is getting Rated-Xes! Shameless plug? Why, yes!

Thanks to all who have sent in and hurry up to the guys that are sending in before the dead line.

To all the artist that sent in for this contest,
All of us here at Goodguys are very impressed with the quality of work you did and the responds that we had for this contest.
We are working on the two page-spread for the February Gazette that mails January 1st.
We will be putting this on-line for the voting and the renditions will be able to be blown up for better viewing before casting the vote for their favorite. One vote per computer so tell your friends. (I will let you know when it is live, and also I will post it here on Lateral-G)
Like I said we are very impressed with the quality, the colors, style and creativity that you all have shown with your work.
I personally want to thank all of you and wish we could have more than one winner!
On-line voting will run until the end of January 2011 at that time we will have the winner and announce it on-line. After the winner is announced and we have the interior and engine rendition we will include that in the Gazette with story on the winning artist and the concept.
Thanks to all of you,
Ed Capen and the Goodguys Staff
Getting antsy, cant wait to see them all. I sure do love cool cars!!!!

Too bad my first issue probably won't come in until after February's issue

I can't wait to see these. When will they be online?
Got my email showing the spread layout, all I can say is wow. There are some really amazing designs for this car. Let me take a moment to say congrats to all those who entered. All these designs are really great.
Ed, is there going to be a way on line that we can blow these up larger to look at the details the artists have so painstakingly put into them? Also will we have the ability to see a full description of mods rather than the condensed version on the print spread. Thanks again for giving us this opportunity. I had a blast doing this car.
Hdesign
12-11-2010, 05:30 PM
I was going to say the same thing. You may already be doing this so I apologize if it's repetitive but there's a ton of details in these designs that really won't get noticed with low res, small images. Voters will have a tough time evaluating the actual design and modifications and may force some to cast a vote simply on a color scheme or name attached to the design.
Plus, I know there's probably not going to be enough room for a write up for each as far as the body mods that are near invisible, but a list of bullet point call-outs would be a huge help.
Yeah Ben, exactly my point. I fully understand the need for smaller/condensed versions in the print spread, but I am hoping for a little more detail online. It would be fine by me, if all that were involved were to post their own on forums like this one here even. If that is ok with everyone.

I think I remember seeing an e-mail stating that voters will be able to click and enlarge the thumbnails before voting. I also have some fine details I'm kind of proud of but I'm sure everyone else does as well. There was a lot of incredible designs but I saw 2 renderings on the layout preview that really turned me on.

Sorry, I have been busy and not on here to answer these quesions.
Yes the online will enlarge so you can see the detail (for everyone but Kenny)and will have all the items that the artist submitted as text with it.
The voting will start January 1st 2011 and the February Gazette mails the end of December 2010. We have sent the Gazette pages to the artist to see how it laid out and they all like the way it turned out and the entries.
I am sure you will all like it and we need your vote to decide what the 2012 Giveaway car will be built like.
Just so you know Curt with RPM has already received the car and is waiting to see what he has to build, so he is waiting like the rest of us..
Again Goodguys thanks all the artist who took part in this contest and we look forward to all of you voting on the Goodguys web site.
Thanks Goodguy Ed

Ok, We have had a few people figure out how to back door the contest and vote many, like over a hundred times, for one drawing. Our IT guy will run a program to only allow one IP address to vote at the end of the contest.
This will not change the contest the artist drawing with the most single votes will be the winner.
I would like to give you an update but with this going on we will only know at the end when we pull out the dups. So now we are all in the dark as to who is winning until Feb 1st.
Good luck to all the artist and get people that have not voted to vote for you or the favorite.
Thanks to all the guys for being part of this contest.
