The buyer on my car has backed out. Said at this time he can't aford to write a check for 70K. But did say if I was willing to get real crazy with the price he might be able to work something out. Which I guess that mean's setting a price below the bild cost (part's-materials) no labor. So now that I have made up my mine to sell I will keep looking for the right person. The worst thing that could happen is I get to keep my car. Thanks so much for all the real nice coment's.Scott Mock.

considering the car, that isn't a terrible worst case scenario!

and not that it needs to be said, but i wouldn't budge on that price at all. whoever picks it up is getting an awesome deal.

X 3, how many other cars like ours have 315's in the front. There is alot of style and innovation in that car. I know your dying to get some cash for your next build but less than 70K just doesn't sound right. Be patient. I just dont see it not happening.

I agree with everything that has been said, that car speaks for itself, the right buyer would gladly pay the price. This car is big boy sh!t, and it's going to take a swinging set to pony up, strap in and use it, IMHO, but that guy is out there. I wouldn't move an inch on it unless absolutely necessary. Your car is one of my all time favorite first gen's, it's top notch, and truly a unique and inspiring build...something that isn't easy to do these days.

BTW, Scott made me a splitter just like this one for my Firebird. I haven't installed it yet, I plan on it soon after seeing these pics and vids again!

It's 3inch stainless steel kit from pypes performance w/x pipe. Muffers are pypes performance violator's.It's wraped w/ 2 inch wide exhaust wrap all the way to the rear but the muffers.I picked the whole kit up from jegs for $480.00 plus the shipping charge. Some like the sound other's don't.It really sound's great at 6500-rpm when you are on the back stretch at heartland park topeka.I like it so well I have the same exhaust for my new 72 camaro project.Thank's for all the great word's.If you guy's keep telling me how great the car is I may just keep it.

coolwelder62
09-29-2010, 07:05 PM
I have not listed it on ebay yet. Afraid I will get a million email's and no real bidder's.The number's & lettering will come right off w/ low heat gun & some repolishing. And carpet and AC could go right in.And could also fit some quieter muffers also.I guess I could take trades or offer financing to the rigth customer. :lol:The photo's that Mr. Tyler posted are from optima, the R1's are not on it any more the PS2's are back on now.

Thank's Cris, but it would cost me $2.000.00 to ship it to you.I need evey extra penny to finish the world's fastest protouring camaro ever built. I offered to let Jimi day have it for display for awhile,he said he didn't have room for in his truck.I would be willing to put some new zo6 wheels on it and keep the fikse's and let it go for $66,000.00 but won't let it go for $58,000.00.

Delete these forum for sale threads. Put that sucker on ebay with a buy it now price higher then you have it posted for here. You can always come down to your top dollar figure. It'll get tons more veiws by potential buyers. Scan in your mag article and post that, and html post some good pics in the text. The more pics the better.

Yeah Ebay gives the car alot of exposure globaly to potential buyers (thats were I eventually sold my car privately after auction for much more than the high bid) but, be ready to filter out the scammers. Although, its not that hard and sometimes fun to play along for a little bit! :D

the main thing that grabs you about your car is that it looks like it just came off the track. I would consider removing the stickers and buffing the paint; a buyer may have a concern about the paint being discolored or damaged under the stickers and this would eliminate that. Plus the stickers could easily be re-installed if the guy wanted to.

I would leave carpet, adding a/c, etc. up to the new owner if they wanted it. There's a good chance they wouldn't want it, and I don't think any money spent here would change the value of the car or make it sell easier.

Jody, your advice is better than I got form the drag buddy of mine.

Vegas69
10-16-2010, 09:47 AM
Me and Jody are pals but I disagree.:unibrow: When I look at your car, I see race car. The mixture of race car and street car is what brings the money for a "Pro Touring" car. The ultimate goal is to make your car mimic a modern sports car. We all know it's impossible to achieve that but close is good enough.

Here's why I feel I'm right. How many guys on Lateral-G are really racing their cars compared to a weekend warrior? 1 out of 20 or greater. Even though I like to race my car, it still spends more time on the street. That means dynamat, carpet, windows that roll up, a heater, radio.

I'd certainly exhaust all the regular avenues before I changed the car. You may want to figure out the cost to make those changes and offer it as a contingency of the sale after a large deposit. The only negative is they may not be able to see the outcome. It's like a house that shows like crap, most people don't have much vision.

I would agree Scott. Taking off the stickers, adding carpet and adding A/C may appeal to a larger audience.

hey Scott,

my suggestion is to just leave it as is (sticker's make it stand out IMO). put it on ebay unchanged and give it a chance. if you still get no buyers after a few weeks then consider pulling the stickers...

btw, if/when you list on ebay make sure you say "stickers can be easily removed if buyer prefers..."

good luck!

coolwelder62
10-16-2010, 12:38 PM
Thank's guy's.It's great to be able to get a few differant point's of view's.The car has a vintage air/heat-defrost system, but no radio.I have all the pcs. to install the 1/4 glass & regulator's.I would be willing to discount the price of the car so someone could remove the sticker's,maybe repaint & add, a/c, dyna matt, carpeting, radio if they chose to.I am going to try ebay this next week and see what happen's.Thank's Scott

Flash68
10-16-2010, 02:10 PM
It's a good thought to ponder.... you can do that and open it up to more guys who are street guys and aren't interested in tracking. Whether it's streetable currently or not doesn't matter because in the eyes of many out there it looks like a race car and that may turn them off.

Or leave it as is, be a little patient, and market the crap out of it and find that one guy!

I'd love to see it stay just how it is, but maybe that's not the ticket to selling it.

Either way, best of luck.

coolwelder62
10-16-2010, 05:22 PM
Yea,I think I will work on an ebay ad and just leave the car the way it is.A smart buyer should be able to see the value of the car as it is. And if they think it needs some added comfort's I will help them w/the install if need be. With a few days work a/c & roll up 1/4 glass could be added. Thank's guy's.

Scott---would love to see you keep the car---saw it at Optima last year--it's perfect the way it is for exactly what you built it for. If you have to sell it, then pull off the stickers and make it more street friendly looking---it's really one of the ultimate Pro Touring vehicles around--and I would agree in this case with Todd (can't believe I just said that) --you will have a much larger audience for the car by taking stickers off and making it a street looking PT car. I certainly would try it on EBAY or at the auctions mentioned just the way it is as there may be that one buyer that loves it just like you do and has the same vision. If that doesn't work---go the street friendly look. I need more money laying around--i'd take it just the way it is fosure.

I am a huge fan of race cars on the street with that 'just off the track' look. Having said that, I think this car will do better on the market sans stickers. The stickers are limiting your audience to those who want a race car AND a Sunoco/Donahue tribute car. I would also make it water tight if not already. If lack of carpet and A/C turns away a buyer on this particular car, it's not the right buyer. Just my opinion.

coolwelder62
10-21-2010, 06:11 PM
Neil,The car is water tight. The 1/4window's don't leak but water down thru. the brake duct hose would get the rear rotor's wet.I have nice 1/4 glass and roll up track's.Then tube up thur. the floor would need to get cut off then sealed.I could make it a real driveable street camaro real easy,BUT then it's just another camaro.See what ebay does in a few week's.Don't need the money,Just want to finish my next project a liitle sooner.Thank's for your opinion. Scott.

I delivered the car to the new owner yesterday. He and he wife met me in Knoxville Tn. They were super nice. Mark is a member here.I hope he will enjoy the car.I know Kevin and I have had a ton of fun with it the last two year's.Almost won the the autox at charlotte. The fellow in a 63 corvette that won it was super fast.He was a full second faster than even Ryan from DSE.Only the guy in the corvette and ryan were faster. Now it's on to the next project.Thank's everyone Scott.

The ower Mark is a super nice and a big time car guy.I think you will see more of the car in the near future. He told me today he is already making improvements to it right now.And they are going to a SCCA event this weekend. He is going to run the car hard and have fun w/it.
