There are definitely alternatives to the stock LS9 system, but what does the stock LS9 system cost? depending on the power you are wanting to make doing your own system can get expensive in a hurry.

I believe its around 2k , thats for fuel pump & fuel controller.

why couldnt you just buy a rock valley tank or what ever w/the pump already in it and just plumb your fuel lines. i think thats what my father in law did on his ls9 in a chevyii.

the LS9's use about 85-90 psi of fuel pressure under boost. If you're going to use the factory injectors you'll need a fuel pump/regulator capable of these much higher than normal LS pressures.

i am not sure what he did, but i know he had a custom tank made for it. i am sure you are 100%correct.

Well if the factory is $2k i would just build your own. You could do lines, dual pumps or one good pump, filter, regulator, fuel rails, and injectors for around $1000 to $1500 depending on how you do it and what components you want to run.
That will give you more flexibility for adjustments as well. Injectors are easier to control and tune if you keep the fuel pressure down between 43 to 60 psi as well. My old fuel system had 2 intank 255's, -10 feed line to 2 -8 lines (into each rail) and 80lb injectors and tuned at 43psi made 800 rwhp with room to spare.
