Hey i'm looking to finalize purchasing a 3rd member for my 9" and i'm wondering what's the best choice for example: limited slip, Detroit locker, spool......

Here's the details:
67 camaro
LSX 454+
TKO 6spd
600 RWHP
4 link 9"
Mini tubed

occassional trip to the road coarse and 1/4 strip, mostly on the street when i feel the urge.

Curious to know what everyone else is using.

If you can spring for the $1k WaveTrac it's supposed to be nice. You can get it in 35 spline for the 9". Not a lot of "real world" info on this diff since they are relatively new. Come with a lifetime warranty. I've heard of one broken unit so far but no update yet on whether it was warrantied or not.

Otherwise, the TrueTrac seems widely used but is limited to 31 spline size in 9". If you are drag racing, and hooking up, that 600 RWHP is near the limit as I understand it.

tru-trac should be fine on 600 hp. i would get roughly a 3.90 gear for the 6 speed for best use of 1st and 6th

thanks guys,

I plan on going to SEMA this year and i'm making my shopping list.

Gear ratio was always a question in mind, first thought was trying to keep it in third through the traps but that puts me at a ~3:25 rearend and that doesn't work with the over drive so i'm looking at 3:89 or 4:11

Never heard of the WaveTrac, I'll google it.

I don't think i'll put slicks on it, so i plan on sticking with 31 splines. Always worried about finding the next weak link when you start dumping the clutch at 5K with slicks......
