no issues, other than completly removing the outer lip, and "custom trimming the inners,
we ended up using 2 deg neg camber, 3/16 toe out, and 4.5 deg caster and it drive beautifully, unloaded it from the trailer in Redding CA and drove it 250 or so miles to Pleasenton for the goodguys show. on the freeway "the I620" worst peice of road i have ever driven on. the car is wicked.

had the car out for more fun yesterday, hit a track day and got to run with a bunch of "Imports" i doubt they like being called that??? too bad.
one of the local driving club had a bunch of fancy cars out a few 996 a couple new Ferrari's 2 of which expired during the day, one brand new 430 that drained its rad and an older 355 that backed into the concrete and destroyed the car!!

anyway we had 6-7 laps head to head with the orange GT3 RS and it was about a dead heat, very cool to see. the gt3 could not pass the nova it had a bit more straight away top end, and a bit better braking but all in all very close.

Well, I must admit I called it. In many conversations about who would place where I said the surprise would be the Speedtech Nova. Only a surprise to most because these guys do not blow their own horn to much and as I had some inside information and performance reports.

I have been telling customers this stuff is the real deal since we installed the first subframe in EmptyNest.

5th OVERALL!

at 2010 Optima Challenge

My guess was that they could Top 5 at Optima and they made me look smart!

Is this Nova running Speed tech's torque arm setup?

The overall stance is killer!

Blake Foster
11-09-2010, 02:55 PM
Yes the nova runs all off the shelf parts nothing wiz bang. we have 2 preproduction parts on the car firewall down tubes that bolt on to the subframe as well as a rear sway bar. both will be available in the next month.

The Torque Arm that is in the car is the same off the shelf part

Horn Blowing is definatly not my strong point !!! so thanks to those who help out in that department!!!

We are VERY pleased with the results.

So Now what? 5th place at Optima, cant say how pleased we are with that.
Well we left the car, truck, and trailer in Ca till next week when we will be back to run in the "No Limit Challenge" this is will be a bit less competitive than the Optima, I think???
then we are going to make our wat home and probably stop at Thunderhill on the following Friday to embarrass a whole feild of Miata's lol

Blake Foster
11-22-2010, 03:29 PM
Well we finished up the No Limit Challenge in First Place. not the greatest location but we did use the day for some more testing. then we packed up and headed to Thunder hill for another track day, and more testing tried out some new tires we opted for the Falken Azenis RT 615K. what a great tire.

that's a good ? greg , Can you use "Killer" ???? i think someone owns that??? not sure.

The car is Awesome, and i hope this proves that our stuff is everybit as good or better than the competition. the car does not have the HP that alot of the others do, it is only 510 at the crank, so the straight away speed is not as great so that does have an effect on how the car finishes, if it had 850 hp like stielos car???? who knows,

i can Garantee 98% of people can not drive their cars the way this one gets driven on the track!! after going for a ride in the car (i am the drag race driver remember that). and the fact that it does'nt need alot of tweeking to get it to this level, is the cool part. we have been adjusting shocks and tire pressure and that is IT.

the sway bar is the first rear bar we have installed on the torque arm, it will be available as an add on early 2011. it is a 1" adjustable unit we mat actually go down to 3/4 but make it more adjustable, still working with Helwig on that part but it did hepl the car out on the big track and didn't hurt it on the short track, we were skeptable if it would make the car oversteer but it does not, so we will be producing them now.

Vegas69
11-23-2010, 08:34 AM
It's good to see you really testing and dialing in your setup. That will make it so much easier for your customers to find the balance in their car. I had it with my R888's but haven't found the sweet spot with the BFG's just yet. It takes time. If I had to do it all over again, I'd have the same manufacturer on both ends of my car. After all, most of us don't have the time to really sort out a suspension set up thoroughly. Not in a reasonable time frame anyway. You proving your components can compete is a huge step forward in my eyes. Now all you need is some horsepower. :unibrow:

Any details on having the subframe mount up sans body mounts? Were the front/rear subframe mounts the same thickness, and rad support mounts modified? Any pics in progress? I never thought of doing this but want to now after seeing it on yours. Any chance I could come by and see this beauty in person, is it at the SpeedTech showroom?

Cheers,
Joe

How severe were the modifications to the trans and driveshaft tunnel? Were both just cut out right at the floorpan level and fabricated new/higher for the higher motor/trans/driveshaft?

Interior packaging is killer. Love the e-brake location and the brake bias knob. What brake package did you use? Are you running a bias bar?

Trunk packaging is nice and tidey also.

Not sure, but it looked like an Alston cage.

Power will always be on the list of upgrades for just about everyone I think. What we need is a plug and play ABS system.
