Just about all the cars sent in have made it into the magazine so it is time to put out the word once again.

If you read the book then you are invited to send in pics for the newly redone HOMETOWN HOTRODDING. Bigger pics and full color are the biggest upgrades.

Don't care what kind of car it is.. PT, PS, whatever.. variety is the spice of life and if the car is cool we will print it.. simple.

Oh, with the new format the better pics get printed bigger. If I get a cool engine shot then you could end up with two pics in the book. Heck, I just gave one guy an entire page just for his car. No excuses for not getting ink in a magazine anymore. It's up to you.

NOTE: I have gotten some great submissions but the images were HORRIBLE resolution, 72dpi will not cut it now will 300dpi pictures that are 1x2 inches in size. Again, if you take some time and take some good pics then they will most likely run larger. We have also gotten some track shots that were pretty cool. In fact Alcinos submission of his car on the track got him a full on 5-page feature, so you never know.

Send submissions along with some tech and "human interest" info on your car/truck to [email protected]

Oh, and if James Greenwell of Louisville, Kentucky is out there.. I would love to run your '89 IROC but the images you sent are too small/lowres - I would have contacted you but could not find your email addy.

Our readers ARE the magazine, step up and show off your ride!

Thanks

You have mail.

But hurry up before I have to sell it! There's a baby on the way, I want to eliminate my debt, get a bigger house and we both need newer cars...

Maybe it could be shot indoors somewhere. Come on! You're the car magazine expert. Surely there's a way...

No, I'm not as bad as you, but close. ;)

I sent pictures. Did you try to reply? I got an e-mail from someone recently but all fields were blank so I don't know where it came from or what was intened to be in it. If you did, please try to send it again.

I should have a decent car to shoot by May. It'll have a slam stance and great paint and body to boot. I clean it with my tooth brush. The color looks similar to your 1968 camaro Steve. It is actually Dupont Hot Hues (Sinful Cinamon). I was going to put stripes on it but feel that the nice clean look with a set of polished wheels will do the trick.

I love PHR and just got a 2year for christmas.

Steve,

Seeing my 69 Camaro in print would be BEYOND COOL! It would be an excellent tribute to my dad and something to keep for a lifetime. Found a company in Tampa "In the News" that turns the mag articles into beautiful display pieces.

Would any of these pics and info Scott gathered in high resolution work?

I just sent the photos. I hope the file was not too large. They are high resolution images.

With Scott's permission, I would like to use the same thing we wrote up for Lat-G, less any editing needed to make it fit the column. The tech info is still all the same.

No permission necessary, Chris. Having your cars on our site is a priviledge.

Let me see if I can condense the history on the car to 1500 characters. I will think it over for a bit. I am really good at expanding things, but condensing is tough for me.

You know, it is fast car...but I don't think it is fast enough to pull that off from sunny Central Florida!

I played around with condensing the story of the car down a bit and emailed the same thing. The word count is way down, but the Characters is too high. It gets closer though to what you would need.

After an intense father and son restoration of this Camaro in the mid '80s, Chris traded it off to move on with his education and career. It always held a special place in his heart and he and his dad often talked about the car over the years during holidays and family get togethers. When Chris lost his dad in late 2003 he decided to go looking for the old camaro. He found the car about 200 miles away on its 3rd owner in the middle of a grade B restoration. With a real story stranger than fiction and some haggling and trading (of a car Chris initially traded the Camaro for in 1989) He struck a deal and brought the old heap home in early 2004. He and his wife set out with lofty goals to do the car Pro-Touring style while retaining the look and feel of the old hot rod he had once driven to prom as a teenager.

Doing all the work himself with the help of his wife and the curious eye of his son Garrett the car was set on a rotisserie and all essential metal was replaced. He shaved the sub frame, slicked the firewall and rounded out the suspension with VB&P springs, C5 13" front brakes, F body LS1 rear brakes on a Ford 9". Steering through a Corvette tilt/tele column into a Steeroids rack rolling on a set of 2004 Vette wheels and tires. Power comes from a 2000 LS1 with a Stage III SLP LS6 head/cam package, 36# injectors, custom headers, 2,800 stall through a 4L60E. Fuel is fed via Walbro 255 pump housed in a trick install of a 1996 plastic 22-gallon Caprice fuel tank. He keeps an eye on the engine stats via Autometer pro-com gauges. The family cruiser stays comfortable thanks to Vintage Air. Some amazing trick items on the car include totally hidden wipers, brakes, cruise control, wire harness, and a/c lines. The racing stripes continue right into the engine bay over the slicked firewall. Working on a tight budget Chris modified many donor car parts to trick out his Camaro including grafting power windows from a 1996 Caprice, late model Malibu electric fan assembly, and a host of other details.

The exterior of the car remains as it was the first time he and his dad rolled it out of the paint booth in 1985 sporting PPG mica-metallic red (Renault Alliance) and Cadillac black cherry stripes. The interior is stock black less the addition of the Autometer gauges, power windows, and steering Corvette steering column. He completed the car just in time to make a maiden voyage from Florida to Columbus, Ohio for the 2005 Goodguys event.

The Camaro serves as a connection to Chris' past and hope for the future as he intends to hand the keys over to his son some fine day. Chris tells us that every time he catches a glance of the car in the garage he gets a smile remembering his dad and all the love that went into building and sharing the car. He knows that his dad is looking down today and sharing that same smile.

Steve...took some new photos yesterday. Had the perfect setting as the weather was cold and the local park was empty. Was able to get the car down on a practice soccer field and shoot away.

HOWEVER, I can't get out of work and to the spot before 4:30 p.m. so this time of year the sun is casting long shadows. The color on the car looks beautiful...but the shadows are heavy and it was hard to get the ladder shot with the hood propped.

Maybe something will work better this weekend.
