I will need to transport a completely disassembled Gen 1 Firebird body to get stripped shortly. I don't have a truck or trailer. Borrowing a truck is probably not a big deal, but I could rent one as well. Is a utility trailer the best way to transport a car body? What's the best way to get it on and off the trailer?

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks!

can you just throw a rearend with leaf springs under the back? Only a couple bolts really, and bolt a roller subframe under it? This stuff can be removed for blasting pretty easily.. or use some decent size tubing and 4 inflatable caster wheels and make a couple "axles", one under the front/firewall and one right where the rearend goes through with a couple supports, and winch it up on a car trailer...

If your talking just the main body itself, heres what I did. I doubled up 2pr of 2x6 x8ft. Screwed them together and drilled holes to match upfront to my subframe mounts and bolted in place with the subframe bolts. At the rear I did the same thing but mounted them to the spring shackles. Then I purchased and mounted to the doubled up 2x6's in each corner a 4" rubber wheel. You can buy them typically anywhere for about 8.00 a piece. (the kind you see on moving carts. Called up flatbed wrecker and they pulled the body right up. It cost me 75.00 to transport to dipper 40miles away. You can email me at [email protected] if you need photos of a couple of set ups. Or if somebody wants to pop these up for me.
