It will be held on April 21, 22 and 23 2006. Most if not all magazines will be there. So here is your chance to get your car out there in the publics eye's.

Who all is coming to this event?

I'm about 30 minutes away. I will be there for sure. It was awesome last year! It would be worth a much longer drive. It's much more than a car show.

We will have a customer car there, the first Mopar (other than mine, that is) that we will have done. Not sure I or the team will make it, very possibly though. We'll have to get a roster going when the date gets closer.

I may still try and may it. However, Grand Run is hard for me to miss, since it is only a block from the house. May just come down Saturday and stay for Sunday.

Hey the airport is only about 45 min away from Year One and Road Atlanta. Hey rent a car at the airport and give it a try on the roadcoarse!!!!!! Just to see what it is made of. Remember... DRIVE IT LIKE YOU STOLE IT!!!!!!!!!!!

No, really it was worth going to last year and this year is suppose to be way better.

Thanks to Brent, I was able to find a room close to Road Atlanta. It is a Best Western. Price is $99 a night if you tell them you are with the event. They had 15 rooms left when I called. I reserved a couple extra for you late bloomers.LOL

There will be several of us hanging out at the hotel nightly. I think protouring has a dinner planned somewhere close on Saturday night. We are all going to try and park together at the track too.

I am about 1/2 mile from the drag strip at the red roof inn. I will have 6 guys with me. Bill are you bringing your GTO? I am sure that is a stupid question.

Travis if you want to fly into Charlotte you can ride down with me. You will need to fly in on Thursday and out late sunday or monday. You can stay at my house thursday night and crash in my room for the event. Gotta show some love for another Arkansas boy...

I am definately bringing the GTO, Frank is taking it down on Thursday or Friday. I really want to take the malibu too. Hopefully we can work out the logisics. The goat will make some passes at the drag strip, not allowed on the road coarse without a rollbar. The malibu will get abused though, looking forward to that.

69rs
04-05-2006, 08:05 PM
Did you check the Year One rules about the rollbar, Bill? I'm sure I saw some 'verts on the track last year. Are you looking at parade laps or open track? Some of the parade laps were over 100 mph last year.

Bill Howell
04-05-2006, 08:09 PM
100MPH!!!---That is my kind of parade. I will be there. I am sure no converts without bars will be allowed to do any real track laps. I did not know about the parade though, count me in.

69rs
04-05-2006, 08:15 PM
What they call a parade lap is 5-6 cars following a Panoz Race School instructor at the speed that is comfortable with that particular group. No passing allowed.

See you there!

There have been tornado warnings and rain all over Georgia for the past two days. Where I live, west of Atlanta, it all sweeps in and heads toward Commerce and Braselton (Where YOE is at). I have an open trailer (I'm poor) and don't want to soak what I have. I am sure there are a lot of big time cars there but the weather is keeping me home. Right now its 10:00 am and raining on Saturday...weatherman sez the same for the rest of the day.

I have just gotten to the hotel. What a blast. SN65 was one of the top three for the cup, but a 67 chevelle beat him out. still cool though. I have many pictures I wlll get to you Scott, probably Monday.
Supper was unbelieveable. We went to Milton Robinson's barn to see his cars. I will let some of the others tell about it, some barn is all I will say.
Then followed Bob Johnson, in the cuda, to his house for a cookout at his place. Damn, all I can say, DAMN, Thanks so much Bob for having all us hoodlums over for supper. Over the top guys, I guess yall can tell I am pumped on adrinilen right now.
OH yeah took the goat around the track on some "pace laps", what a day.

So what was the final order? My favorite is the SN65 Mustang. I've never been a fan of the Chevelle. I can't stand the front or rear end treatment. The nova looks okay too. Kinda hotroddish on both of those cars though. Too smooth for the lines of the car, and I think a car needs a headrest. That and I don't like a console all the way to the back like that. Hot rod interiors are usually better suited to the older late 30's hotrods.

I wish I could have been there though. Seems like a nice show.

The show was awesome and the weather was better than expected! Next year I will definately have a car and participate more than spectate!!!!. Awesome Gto Bill. I saw a few of the lat-g and pro touring shirts across the way but with 2 small kids I mostly juggled them. I didnt think the location of the pro-touring tent was so great being away from everyone else. The Red 69 at the tent was awesome and I loved the interior in it. Nicely done without the usual excessive overkill. I also was partial to the blue 69 from the DSE TENT that was a little in the style of DRIVEN! Whoevers car that was must have had a blast. I know they had to have made over 50 laps on the big track this weekend!

I appreciate the mechanical side of building the car and using it by the standard it was built. I dont care if it cost 300,000 and has every handling technology known to man, its useless if its built put in a glass case and never moves under its own power.
To quote the old No Fear shirts, Drive it like you stole it!

I don't know who drove it harder, Stacey or Kyle. That car is so sweet, understated but all business. Everytime the track was open, it was making laps. I saw Kyle and Stacey around all weekend, but never did catch them at their tent. Way to go guys, the track time was better advertisement anyway.

Thanks, the whole weekend was a blast. I can understand your point about the location of the tent if you where there with two small ones. It was a terrific place to watch the action on the track though.
Dennis Gage came by and did a segment for his next year show on the goat. He is very personable and that was a blast. Today we went over to the drag strip and the car was placed infront of the year one trailer. Two minutes after I got there Chip Foose comes up and is checking it out. One of the guys was explaining about it, and he said, Yeah, I saw this car at SEMA, nice ride. That really gave me the big head...lol
Then they introduced him to me and I got a couple pictures of him, the year one guy and myself. I will post them when we get em downloaded tommorrow.

That is the front stretch, obviously right at the grandstands, but you have a good bit of headsteam built up about there. I would have loved to run the open track runs, but no rollbar, no playee. So I had to be happy doing the "pace laps". Of course, the secret there was be last, and you could really play, sit back then play catch up. :unibrow:
