Hey Guys -

Just putting the finishing touches on my 1967 Camaro build. Not your ordinary build as I incorporated an entire NASCAR Cup chassis as the foundation. Best way to describe my build is comparing it to when we were little and built plastic car models - the last thing you did was drop the body over the chassis. Sounds simple but as you can imagine there has been hundreds of hours of labor and many greenbacks involved.

I could drone on for days about all the aspects of the build as pretty much every inch of the chassis and body has been altered or customized, but to "some-what-summarize" the project here are a couple of pics.

Still a work in progress, but getting closer to being done everyday.

Thanks guys for all the cool feedback!

Been meaning to post an update over here..........not enough hours in the day! Skip beat me to posting the video clip. :)

Camaro is "almost" done. Did some more "test-driving" this past weekend. We have almost 150 miles on it doing shakedowns and working out a few bugs. Must admit - very happy with the handling....it is amazing.....very stable....not sketchy in anyway.....great ride....very pleased. Car is now at the body shop for several "details". Hope to have it back in a couple of weeks.

Have come a long way since these:

Thanks Skip - Yeah been quite a while between posts. Forgot that besides spending all the time building the car it is actually fun to also yap with fellow car nuts. So with the new 2013 season right around the corner, looking forward to sharing some build updates as well as some track time experiences with the Lat-G Crew.

Spent most of last season working out a host of bugs that pop up with any build once the car hits the streets. Got a LOT of stuff squared away properly. From wiring to cooling to fuel system to engine tune, etc., etc., I have turned wrenches on every inch of the Camaro. Never ending focus has been working on getting the right combo with the suspension - amazing how adjustable the Cup chassis' are. A work in progress as they say.

Right now I am in the process of replacing the fuel cell bladder. Had a nasty leak - spent the past couple days getting it hazmat clean - hoping to have new cell in place with everything buttoned up this weekend.

Doing a bunch of updates as well this year - got some real trick NASCAR "Spek" gauges to replace the Autometer set up.

More stuff to follow as the weather gets warmer and more progress is made.

Thanks for all the interest!

- Scott

I mostly run the Billet Ralley Wheels on the street. Occassionally I will sport the Aero/Goodyear set up for an afternoon cruise - but mainly I got them for track day fun. Actually looking at doing a new wheel/tire set up this season that maximizes wheel and tire size based on the room I have. Have looked at so many wheels I am dizzy. :lostmarbles:

Believe it or not Skip, Formula 43 Wheels were my first choice! I really like that they are "stepped lip" wheel hoop construction (super strong) and they have some great designs. I was dead set on the "RAD20" as shown below, but wanted them, like you referenced, in "Lord Vader Black".

http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh123/xvscott/Car%20Parts/Rad20.png

They would have looked so cool. Alas, it was not meant to be.

Unfortunately Formula 43 does not make the RAD20 with a "5 on 5" lug pattern like I have with the NASCAR hubs. I was bummed, because these wheels are very sharp and would have looked "Grade A Bad A**" on the Camaro.

My wheel brand choices are limited by the "5 on 5" lug pattern as well as the mandatory 3" "center bore" I need to work with my set up.

The wheel/tire combo in your pics are exactly what I like. Super sharp in black anodized. Nice deep dish look. Hope to be able to use Formula 43 wheels on a future build.

The search continues............:D
