Good looking motor. Be sure to spend time painting and detailing under the hood while the motor is out and the clip is off. You will thank yourself later.

If it were me, I would go with the factory non-a/c blower motor and cover. It's low profile and allows you to have a defrost function. Of course I think your nuts for not wanting a/c but that's just me...:)

Nice project. :thumbsup: The thing I like about Squares are they look the best in the simplest form, to me. Silverado package dropped over 20's makes me drool like crazy. I think your path of flat paint is on the right track.

bag it theese trucks have such a low hanging crossmember if you just do a static drop you will bottom out and jar you spine on a regular bassis.2"dropped spindles and bags work well with theese.have some build picts on mine on my website if they will help at all.I also have some dearched rear spings that I ran on mine for a short time before baging if intrested let me know.keep up the good work

If you get a hold of a Dropmember, you'll have no clearance issues and you can go as low as you want. You get R&P steering too. Theres even an option to use the complete front suspension out of a C4 Corvette. Im shopping around for a clean Square Body to get started on...........

There's a clean black 86 Silverado on Ebay right now that I'm watching (just as torture) that you might want to check out. Looks pretty flippin clean. Cowl hood, drop, 20's and you're there.

Nice progress. So are you rebuilding the 305? Seems like it would make more sense to build the 350.

If Im not mistaken, rebuilding a 350 would be less expensive than rebuilding a 305-if being built the same. Parts for a 350 usually are cheaper than just about anything else. And the pistons would be the only difference anyway, and thats if the pistons need replacing in the first place.

and the shrouding of the valves.. will the valves in the vortech heads even clear the bores???

If Im not mistaken, they made 305 Vortec heads-in fact, I would think youd have to be careful not to put them on a 350. But Ive been wrong before.......

I've got a 84 square body that I've had for awhile, I just bought that front end from Nate at Porterbuilt can't wait to get started on it. It's like getting the complete DSE setup for a Camaro. I plan on bagging it and laying it on the ground:thumbsup: .

From what I recall, the C5 DM doesnt lay frame-close, but not quite. It just handles real well. Be sure and make a build thread, and link to it from here.

Nice update.

Don't dump the exhaust before the axle. If this is your daily driver, you will become sick of listening to the drone all day and night. The exhaust note will be cool for a short time, but in the long run it will start to become annoying.

Travis Eastwood has that Satin Chassis Black that looks real good on frames and such. Just clean everything up real good and use the primer that goes with it and it turn out real nice. That's what I used on my control arms.
