Hello all,

I have had a couple 66 chevelles in my short time as an eligible driver. In both cases, unfortunately, I had to sell. Be it as it may, I have found my first 66 unchanged in a driveway! I hope to raise enough money in the near future to make an offer on it, though it is not for sale...yet. Nevertheless, I have never built a Chevelle to the standard I will need it to be built now. If I were to buy this I would need it to be a daily driver (EFI probably), disc brakes, etc. I wanted your guys' input on how to go about this the cheapest but also most solid way. I always tend to overlook some aspects because of my excitement clouding my better judgement! So let me know about some integral parts I might want to think about planning on getting, troubles installing a modern drivetrain into a classic, and any other advice!!! thanks!

Since you want EFI, it would be an easy swap doing an LSx with whatever trans (manual or auto). The complete take outs are getting pretty reasonable.

how about an LT1? I was recommended that build as well, would that be a decent set up?

LT1's dont make much power, arent much cheaper than an LSX setup, and are much harder to upgrade.

You can get low mileage dropouts from late model trucks dirt cheap these days.

what year trucks would I be looking for? 99 and above?

I think for the 6.0L blocks would be 99 and above, not sure. But, I do know for an LS in general it would be 97 and up.

awesome, I have a friend who owns a wrecking yard so I am going to call upon his help. With the installation of these LSx's (retrofitting them to muscles) are there any special steps needed for installation? For instance, if I were to be able to get a wrecked 2000 camaro, does the wiring harness come out of that straight to the chevelle? This efi stuff is confusing to me :)
