Story time....
We have have a few car clubs around these parts. One of the Elders in the bunch..(old street racer)... suffered a heart attack a while back. He's a funny guy in his late 70's who loves nothing more than fast cars.
He told me last night.... on his "bucket list".... was a ride in the DC camaro. I said "i'll hook it up... one of these days". And as i was leaving at 1am... he reminded me. I said.. "lets do it!"... so he hopped off his walker... strapped in.. and away we went. A friend shot a video of me pullin out... and returning. I got him on the freeway... punched it a few times. Needless to say he was pretty stoked. Here's a video of me leaving... then his reaction on the return.

So then... i left with a full tank of 93oct... and a passenger. Following me was a buddy's Viper running 700rwhp..(Roe supercharger, mega squirt meth, 100oct, and runs 10'40 at 137mph...once before they kicked him off..)
So we made our way to a section of road that was closed for "races only". First race was from 50mph... him in second.. me in third. He has long ass 3.05 gears... up against my 3.55's. Anyway... we hit hit it... we were side by side all the way DEEP into 5th.
Then... we got to the second race track.... Both in third this time... i took the slight jump.. and we were BOOKIN!!! Im telling you... i had a cars edge on him.. i couldn't pull... but he wasn't catchin. My speedo was maxed at 160....

THEN... i wanted to test the brakes up at that speed... well i got on them.. and she slowed down real quick. Real smooth... real nice. All of a sudden... i smelled oil.:_paranoid
Pressure was good... but in the rear view.. smoke everywhere... :faint:
I drove a few miles and pulled off... popped the hood and the headers wrap was soaked. Fired the car.. and low and behold... the power steering line was cut...shooting power steering fluid straight up.. Dang... Well... 5 more miles on the freeway.. then a couple miles through the back roads... "i got this". I managed to putt the car back.. the hydroboost turned into manual brakes. So when people say there will be no brakes if the fluid dumps... they are WRONG.
Big oily mess under the car... but easily cleaned.
I have a wastegate dump just above that powersteering line. (goes from the pump to the hydroboost)...I believe the hose got hot... then when i jammed on the brakes... it ruptured.. easy fix... change the dump tube....

All in all.... it was a fun night. I thought i would share. Im also impressed with the way the ol' 69 felt at high speed... Extremely planted.

Oh yeah.... im still running low boost.:unibrow:
