Goodguys 2011 Giveaway car, Project CleanAire 55. You could own this car.

Well we were asked by Goodguys earlier this year if we would be interested in doing the giveaway car for Goodguys in 2011. I thought about it for a while and came up with a multispoked game plan and if any of these points could not happen. Ironworks was not interested.
1) It had to a Tri-5 Chevy to display our Tri-5 Chassis we are working to make available to the public. What great advertisement?
2) They had to let me out source the paint and interior work to Kenny Davis @ Kenny Davis Hot Rods and Tracy Weaver at the Recovery Room. Since we don;t paint or sew we had no choice.
3) We had to use an EMI 55 Chevy convertible body, Because Kenny and I had heard on may occasions that they are really nice pieces. Brand new means no rust, and seriously, what do you have to do to a 55 chevy Convertible to make it cool.
4) Since it would be and Aftermarket body and Chassis, and the guys from GM have wanted us to use there new E-rod engine to power a vehicle for since they unveiled the engine at SEMA last year.
5) And we had to get the body pretty early in the process so we did not have to Thrash to get this car done.

I know it almost seems like cheating.

The centers are a Titanium Ceramic, the hoops are Ceramic Black.

Kenny got the body a few weeks before SEMA and I delivered a powder coated chassis to him at SEMA to haul back to his shop. He has been had at work painting the car and getting it reassembled in the past 2 months. It is looking great. We decided to paint the entire engine orange to go with the factory theme. We are still trying to hide and improve the look of some of the emission equipment stuff that "HAS" to be on the car. But it is looking good. Kenny drove it for the first time today. Tracy is "HOPING" to get the car by mid January.

On another note dealing with this thread the car looks killer I can't wait to see it in the spring. I think its hard for the normal person or shop to understand what it takes to do the giveaway car to the caliber that they have been getting done to. The bumper fit up. I have always hated that it looks like the bumper sides were supposed to be longer. This was the gap we had after tucking the bumper as tight as possible. So we moved the sheetmetal.

Those vette rims and tires get around. I got those from Bret at Air Ride off of the Z06 he bought and used them to mock up on my car, sent them to Travis for his car and now they end up on the 55. Those things have covered some real estate not to have been driven on. LOL

Just some misc. pics from early last week, This part is not very fun to look at.We use .040 and .050 powdercoated aluminum for base panels (white makes it easy to see what your marking on them. We are starting to get everything ready for covering this week, Thats when things start looking good.

We got the car done when we said and it looks good, Kenny picked it up. I just put a normal interior in it so it would work for who ever wins it. The base is still tuff and fits good, With some nice styling. Still loading pics on bucket so will post more over the next couple of days here and on my thread in the interior section. I loaded a few other cars in that thread also.

I just want to say that Kenny and Tracy went above and beyond. I know that Kenny did this whole thing just for Fun. We did not set out to build a riddler contenter, just a real nice cruiser that anybody would be excited to win. I hope we can all enjoy and drive the crap out of this car.
