View Full Version : Baldwin-Motion SuperCoupe at Barrett-Jackson
It's a little early for this, but I found out today that the Baldwin-Motion SuperCoupe that was at SEMA and PRI will going on the block between 6pm and 8pm January 21st. Prime time Saturday night. It will be interesting to see what it goes for.
I was also told that the CNN news story about the SuperCoupe was the most linked news story in the history of CNN. That's pretty cool.

it's nice but I wonder if it will bring the rumored 420k price tag!
Maybe we should start a pool and I'll give the closest guess a free Lateral-g t-shirt.
The feature of the Baldwin Motion SuperCoupe is airing again on V8TV this coming Saturday if you want to get more info on the car before you head to Scottsdale to start bidding!
I can go as high as $11.00, so bring it on!

How about 10 bucks a head and lets make it closest to the auction price. :unibrow:
Things are a little tight right now seeing that we're building our own projects and setting up a new shop. However, I think there might be another couple bucks in change in the '65 Chevelle seats for the Baldwin car...

(like Jim said) We should get a pool going on the price when the hammer drops. Closest to actual selling price wins the pot.
Paypal $10 to
[email protected] with your guess (don't tell anyone what your guess is).

Do you mean a pool on the final bid price of the car?

Lets have Charley buy it and give us each a ride at SEMA for NO CHARGE...

Would this happen to be the bus I heard about over at PT.com?
I spoke with the Motion guys today. The Super Coupe is just about ready for road testing. Can't wait to see how it does. I'm thinking that it will exceed the $427K pricetag because I hear they've already pre-sold a handful of the cars at that price. I bet someone will want #1 pretty bad.

What would be funny would be if the bidding stalled at $250k and they had to buy their own car to keep from taking a bath..
Ive seen that happen before.. you end up paying 16% to buy your own car.. lol
Seems risky unless you KNOW there are people gonna pay.. if it does bad that will set a bad precedence..
Oh, the FOOSE Camaro will be there as well (for sale)..

I am betting on a double. If nobody else has the balls, i'll take $850k+ in the pool.

I look at it, the more it sells for the more ours are worth. Bring it!!
The ALUMINATR should do well if they are getting those prices, geez.

I'm with Frank. I'd bet on 800K+ easy. They were getting calls from people wanting to buy the car days, if not hours, after the press release. I think these people will be at BJ with their Swiss bank on speed dial.

Regardless of what price it does wind up bringing, It will be interesting to find out what who (meaning, what type of person) the buyer is.

There are collectors that will "need" this car to fill their Motion collection.

while this might seem outa reach....... i think the "1st" of the new motion cars will find a special place in some rich guys collection, asking where...i say the car goes to japan or south africa.

Nothing would suprise me at Barrett-Jackson. You have to be there to understand. The excitement in the building is overwhelming and common sense gets left outside the door. All you need is two guys with deep pockets to want the car. If they both have egos and don't want to be the loser seen on TV by millions of viewers they will just keep bidding.

I'll be there this year..but just to look. Its hould be fun. the wife hates having me glued to the TV all weekend so I figured screw it. Aunt has a place in Anthem and round trip from denver was $165...plus I get to spend some "qaulity time" with my father. As a registered bidder I may throw in a nod or two on the baldwin car :willy:

Scott, can you create a pole with $$$ parameters as to what people think the car will sell for? Now that would be fun. Me to dumb to do it. I would like the idea of a winner gets a prize.

Larry and Joel at B-M said they're going to throw in some Baldwin-Motion swag to go along with the Lateral-g t-shirt to make this even more fun.
I'll start a new thread dedicated to just the guesses for the winning bid at B-J...
And here's a studio shot of the SuperCoupe. Makes for cool wallpaper. :)
