Well I just dropped off the application for a variance to the city for my garage. I'm trying to build a 22'x26' attached garage to my house. My wife works a second shift job and gets home at 11:30 . I always wait up for here but with the new hip I won't be running down any trouble makers on one leg lol . So its for her safety and I get the perk of having a place to work on my car. She's all for it. My abutter on the side of my property I'm building on signed off on the plan, so no problem with them. I'm in the middle of the city but there is a neighborhood asociation that is all over everything in the area and they are not happy I want to do this. The meeting isn't until the middle of June so Its going to be a long wait to be on the edge of my seat. Wish me luck ! I will post any developements as they happen.

Awesome. good luck.

I just bought my first house I get my keys (and garage door clicker) tomorrow. Any advice on getting garage expansion permits? Luckily i have no HOAs or CCRs.

Try CARMEX it tingles! Plus it has CAR in it! :P :faint:

Honestly, good luck. I hope it all works out. As with all things do your research and be prepared. If the leaders of the association have gotten variances, know what they are and how they got them. That actually applies to anyone in the association. Knowledge is power.

Thanks guys .
Chad their not a HOA that you pay to belong to. They are more like the this is my neighborhood and you can't play in it. They watch everything that goes on and if they don't like it they try to stop it.
