Hi everyone, first post on the board :)
I have been checking the board out for a while now and really like the expertise that is on this site, quite a few very nice cars on here with some awesome workmanship done to them!
I am going to replace all the braided fuel line on my syclone and have decided stainless hard line with teflon lined hoses at the tank and engine are going to be the best option for me.
I ordered up some 1/2 stainless tubing that I have seen recommended and will be ordering the mastercool deluxe flaring kit and the 37 flare set very soon. I like getting this kit because I will get more than just one thing out of the kit as I can do a lot with and don't know why it has taken me so long to get it :)
My couple questions are, do I get stainless nuts and sleeves or aluminum? I have heard that sometimes its hard to get a perfect seal with stainless so I didn't know if the aluminum would help with the seal. I would prefer stainless so it all looks uniform. Also stainless or aluminum adapters to go from hard line to hose?
Second question, what is the recommended tube bender? I have seen the ridgid or imperial and just wondering what it the favorite? I think I found both of them for roughly $120 a piece so I guess it just comes down to personal preference. Are those fine with stainless or do I need to buy a better one for the stainless? I don't want to skimp on the tools if its going to cause a problem.
Third, whats the best way to cut the tubing? I have read to not use a tubing cutter but haven't really seen much talked about the correct way? I was thinking of buying one of those reamers do help deburr and chamfer the edge a little has anyone had luck with those with stainless?
I also ordered up some 1/4 stainless as I figure some new vacuum lines might go well with the new fuel lines :D
I have seen Marks (bent custom) work in the magazines and on nelsons engines and its truly a work of art I just wish he was closer!
Thank You for all the help you have given me and I can't wait to get all the pieces here to start fabricating!
