Painting my 69 very soon a solid black, and my painter is recommending a Single stage urethane, as touch ups will be easier down the road. Says it'll look just as good as base/clear. Would like the opinion from some of you guys with experience using both. As much as I'm paying for this, I want to get it right, and would value your 2 cents.

Plus, I here a lot of talk about brands, is there really a difference in high end paint brands? He likes to use Du Pont chroma premiere.

Single stage will usually look deeper and more "Black', but is generally less durable. IMO, single stage is no easier to blend than bc/cc. Either way, with black especially, if you ever had to repair, you'd want to paint the entire panel. One trick is to add clearcoat to the black s/s for the last couple coats. Kinda get the best of both worlds....

BC/CC. Stay away from the single stage stuff if you can.

For pure black I like the Dupont 99T with chromaClear clear coat. I've shot this on a Camaro and it turned out very well...
