Ok last night, i went to Office Max and got a 4" 3 ring binder, a bunch of clear plastic sheets and decided to cut out all the tech articles in my entire car magazine collection... about 5-6 years worth of magazines.

I'm making a "How-to" book with articles just in case i ever need the info, or possibly pass it on to my kid(s)...

what do you guys think?

I think its a good Idea especialy if you put tabs on every subject this way if you need to look up a how to its easy to find. Also passing any type of knowledge to your children is invaluable.

I say do it.

I like the idea Eric. Give you a nice indoor project for those lovely Minnesota winters! :D

But it is a good idea.. many times I haven't been able to find an article I was looking for.

Oh, and Derek.. do you know the origin of the word "dork"?.. lol

HAHAH!! you guys are too much!

I've got tabs for major parts of the car (i.e. Interior, engine, fuel/air, wheels/tires, cooling/ac, body work, tools...etc.)

When i'm done i should have a good 200+ articles, if you wanted a copy i could make one up. The binder was $17, pages are $7 per 100 clear plastic sheets... and of course the cost of copies :D

I've got all sorts of crazy articles on how stuff works and how-to's... i just hope it gets lots of use!

EDIT: The definition of "Dork" is whale penis ;)

I would say you are smarter than me. I have a mini storage unit full of magazines. I just keep only a hand full at the house. I had planned long ago to computer catalog them so I could reference them later but at this point I doubt it will ever happen.

I think you should put it online :). I've thought of doing that and then after a few years sometimes an article resurfaces with some updates. I applaud your organizational talents!

Oh, yes, having grown up in Minn I see you'll have plenty of time, too.

Maybe you could scan what you want into your computer, then save on a disc.
