Right now I am running on my 70' Chevelle the following-
Front Suspension - Hotchkis 1" coils & 2" spindles
Rear Suspension - 3" coils
Front 20"x8.5" & 255/35r20
Rear 20"x10" & 275/40r20
Here is how the car sits:

I put a floor jack under it to lift the rear 1" to say it's 2" drop so I can have some "Rack" look to it. I like it better this way over the 20"s.

BIG Questions I need help with-
1. Is there a rubber isolator that sits on top of the rear coils and then sitting in the chassis pocket? (my car seems to sit lower in the rear than others I see)
2. What size tire are most running up front with a 20"? Mine are VERY tight, I haven't had a alignment and that will help but still thinking my front tire size if off/ to large?
3. Should I drop to a 19" front wheel so I can drop tire size for better clearance? I really like the 20"s front and back:( .
I am ordering my new wheels and tires so I want to make sure I am going the right direction. If anyone can help that would be great:cheers:

You can buy urethane isolators for the pig tailed rear spring on your Chevelle, will raise it about 1/2" if you use one on each end of the spring. Energy suspension makes them.
As for wheel sizes, i like stagger in wheel and tire diameter. Your more then welcome to call me and discuss siaze ideas.

Thanks for the info Frank, so are you saying they are like that from factory or something I can add to fix my rear stance? Sorry I bought the car and it had coils cut down so I am going back and doing it the right way, well for the most part for now until I do a full suspension package. If anything I might just order 2" coils.
I kinda ended up on the wheels sooner than I thought after going to our local GoodGuys show over the weekend and my wife and I went by the Rushforth booth and really feel in love with a wheels style so I placed a order with Jason but I am trying to put my end thoughts on the wheel sizes before he puts my order in and it's too late to change. We walked away ordering 19x8"s front and 20x10's rear but now I am thinking of 20" all around like the car has now and trying to stuff a 20x11 in the rear like I have seen others say can be made to work. I am not stressing on the paint on the car because we are going to re-paint it so this is my time to do any fixes to "Make" things "Fit"
Frank I am sure you are a busy guy and last thing you need is to have time wrapped up over the phone but thank you for the option, really if anything being your background do you think I am asking for big trouble running 20x11's out back and staying on a 20x9 up front unless I hit the tire size perfect?

Jason and I discuss backspacing and sizing on his diect wheel orders all the time. Our tech service is for members, not for sales. Sales just happen to come. So your still welcome to call.
As for size, your going to spend cubic $$$ going up to 11" wide for very little gain and a lot of possible trouble. Were it me, I would do the 20 X 10 and 19 X 8.
Those isolators were on some cars from the factory, probably not yours. But they will riase it half inch using them.

I just spec'd my wheels on the car now and they are 20x8.5 w/4.5"bs on the rear and I am sure the fronts are the same also. So if I go with a 20x10 5"bs I will bring the wheel out closer to the fender 1" doing the math.
Man I still have not started building my rear axle and almost thinking of going with a 12-bolt out of a 66-67 that is 5/8's shorter on either side of having a 9" built so I can run a smaller backspace for a deeper lip/face. I know we are talking minimal here but at this point every little bit will add up.

I like the lower ride height. I would leave the back low and lower the front just bit more if it does not wreck the geometry.

The 5/8" will help and will give you 5/8 more lip, just that simple. If you build a rear you can narrow up to 1 1/4" per side depending on what brakes you run.

I am with you on this as well, I need to ditch my front wheel and tire because the tire is too tall and rubs bad right now.

Yea that would be great, if you want I can cover the shipping and send a call tag for them. I will PM you. Thank you!!

Thanks for the chat on the phone. You had some great ways of explaining what I need to do to gain the look I want. Stance and wheel combo is a large part of making or braking a car over all look and my taste might not be what every Chevelle owner is liking but I know it's in the direction of the "pro-touring" theme I am trying to touch on for my build. I still can't get over how much time you must spend on the phone talking to people, I have to give you a ton of respect for maintaining that quality about yourself:cheers: .

Email/PM me the spec's on it. I think you said it was a 9"? Whats this going to effect if anything when I purchase my suspension kit? Thanks Rodger:thumbsup:

The brushed outer rim will look good with the black center. When you paint the car, what color are you planning to go with?

Either dark gray with satin black strips and other parts or white with satin black. This will hopefully be the plan for next winter if I get everything else done for test fitting and what not.
BTW...Thanks !! truck is gone and I will have the write up on the other site by next week:thumbsup: I wanted to try this week but I am leaving for the weekend on Thur for the sand:woot:

I do too Nick. Keep us posted bud.
Thanks for your order at the show, Nick. It was good to meet you guys and we're ready to knock the wheels out as soon as you give the word.
I'm with you guys on getting it down as low as possible while still maintaining a little margin of safety on the ride height.
Talk to you soon

Jason thank you. My wife and I have been pondering on wheels for a couple months now and after seeing them first hand we where hooked. We liked the reared x more and the 19" front I am sticking to, I just need to decide what I am going to do with the axle so I can tell you backspace on either the 20x10 or 20x11. You just can not beat the deep dish wide look and at this point I don't need any of this but hell at the money spent I better make sure I am completly happy. I am taking of for the holiday in the morning so so I didn't call you back like I said in the vm but I will have a solid answer early next week and then you can get started on them. Thanks again and you and your wife have a great holiday.

OK, talked to my axle guy....talked to Jason and a few others that everyone had great info let alone what I received from others here. Jason is sending me a 20x10 5.75bs wheel and I am going to put it up under my car and see how I look for room on the inside and outside of the wheel for going the 11" route. From there I will figure out where that 1" extra will fall on the backspacing spec and then......minus what i want to cut off a axle to make the backspace less and my front dish LARGER!!!!
Did all that make sense?

Thanks Jody, at first I thought I was crazy for my thinking but really in my spot I am not going back wards and its not too much more to have the axle built alittle shorter from what I was going to be spending so hell if I can gain another inch......well everyone would like to see another inch on the lip right:lol:
Hey Jody did you see that black truck we just finished with the twins?

Thanks:thumbsup: I read you looked at these wheels at the GG show also. Kinda nice to have the show displays seal the deal seing them in person.
So I have a test wheel here, have not opened it yet but I might get a chance tomorrow to put the car on the rack to test fit it and take some spec's. If not tomorrow for sure this weekend after the dust clears with work for the week....damn work..I want to play with my car:willy:
