Top Gear are filming a road test on the new 5th Gen Camaro this week. I was asked by the guy that runs the "Classic Camaro Club UK" if I would be interested in also letting them use my '69 Camaro. He had been approached by them to supply a 1st gen to be used as a comparison against the 2010 car. The car they're testing is red with black stripes, so mine would have fitted the bill as it's painted the same.

Typically the timing's wrong  . The Muncie is out of the mine having some upgrade work done, just waiting on parts from the US. To be honest I don't think I'd have done it even if the car was up & running. Top Gear never shows American cars in a good light no matter how good they are & of course you have no idea how it's gonna be edited, whether it's to poke fun or not. All the same, I'm sure that that my car would have put in a very good performance if it were used on track, as that's what it's been built for.

If things are edited right then you get your 15 minutes of fame, if they edit it in a bad light you end up looking a chump for the rest of your life. I can make myself look a chump very easily on my own

It'll be interesting to see what Clarkson makes of it, what ya reckon, will he like it or slag into it?

cheers...Nige

If Hammond does the test, you'll be in good shape.

You're right, they hate American iron but at the end of every episode when one's featured, they sure like blowing the tires off...:_paranoid

Did anyone watch the US version of Top Gear with the new LS9 vette? If you watched the UK version, then you saw the timed lap of the vette, it ran a very respectable time. If you saw the US version, you got NO vette time. Clarkson doesnt like cars that come from the US. Hammond secretly wants to be an American  . That little guy loves vintage and late model muscle cars.

Really? That's cool you got asked. I think it would be amazing to try and get them a true PT performer to run! Any other contenders on that side of the pond you know of?

Mine's not a Pro tourer but a circuit /road racer. It would have been interesting to see what they made of it, but I'm sure they wouldn't have "got it". I don't know if they managed to get another car or not, just have to wait & see. Pro Touring doesn't really exist on this side of the pond, there's probably just a handfull of cars & most of those are show queens.

cheers...nige
