GUYS
I will show you my next ride.
69 rambler american, rechromed trim and bumpers, all glass reasealed.repainted. Box stock 199 ci 3 spd on the column. New carpet ,seats recovered, owned by the same guy for about the last 30 yrs.
All the paper work from new, mint.
Only reason i knew what a rambler was because of this car.13 plus years ago i dated his daughter and he was painting it at that time. I ran into him at my new job. Asked about the car, he said i have it and if you want it , its yours for 2k....DOH!!!!!! http://i907.photobucket.com/albums/ac278/kustomcarguy/69rambler3.jpg
and

Very nice shape. You can't ask for a better car to start with. Glad to see you got another project. Good luck with it.
Serious score!!!! Very nice. What are the odds huh? A car from your past and that important to boot! Now years later it's yours and you know the history too. Pretty cool deal!
you mentioned it needs wheels and?? A little more snot under the hood. Or not, maybe just exhaust to give it a decent sound and cruise it as is?
Actually I kind of like the wheels and the whole look of the car. It could be a killer sleeper with some suspension mods and a LS motor with a nice quiet exhaust. Just a thought....:D

:D
Im gonna drive it for a while and just enjoy an old car.
I will probably just work on detailing AND tinkering with the inside with new seat belts and little stuff.
Life has changed for me and i figure ,better to have simple and drive something than just a rolling project shell that needs to start over.
Im just FOCUSED on the new job and put "Rad" on the back burner.
Ive been talking with a suspension company that is developing a bolt in handling suspension for amc cars about using my other rambler as a fitment tool. So i could have some cool stuff coming late in the year.
I see wheels/tires and brakes as nice upgrades for this car. You can only go 7 wide on these cars without cutting. so that keeps cost down.
I just like the fact im scoring a nice refreshed car for cheap.
Tom
Your last line really says it. And is most important. A good cheap car with a serious "cool factor" built in. What ever you do with it will only make it better.

Before I started on my car I loved driving it the way it was and believe me it didn't look anything as nice as that one does. Enjoy it.

Sorry Tom........:willy:
But that is kind of the way things go on this site huh?:D
Seriously, a STOCK 5.3 with decent tires and brakes.......a lot of fun and 20+ mpg too! (T56 units are going pretty cheap these days on E bay too.)

its not showroom new but its a nice driver. had he pulled the motor and painted the engine compartment also, it would probably look new.only thing he didnt paint white was the inner fenders, firewall and engine side of the core support they are flat black and Ill probably do that at when i yank the 6.

Hi Tom, really glad to see you're working & things are turning around for you. The new ride looks awesome, & it's better than both of my Ramblers.:lateral:

Randy thanks, this last year was awfull and this is a little motivator.
Im really glad to be working again. I have space in the back of the service department shop i manage to park my car daily and when the time comes do a little work on it. Im feeling a little better knowing i can enjoy the car hobby again even if it is on a smaller scale. Only problem is i come on here everyday and the wheels start turning.I have a 5.3 then i need a tko/ranger 8.8 rear.wheels. THIS IS WHATS HAPPENS TO YOUR BRAIN ON LATERAL-G..
Randy,im looking forward to seeing what you do with yours.
thanks again

I almost picked up a 62 Tempest and donor car for $2500 for the exact same reasons my friend! Just to have a cool old daily driver!! This one was also a driver, came with an extra engine and a couple of carbs/intakes PLUS a donor car with a 4-speed... I debated about it after talking with my Dad about their problematic "rope" drive shafts and missed out on the deal... woulda been fun though with the "half a 389" 4-cyl/4-speed!
We need LOTS of pics when you pick it up!!! Before and after detailing etc!

Looks good Tom, just do some simple suspension work, run some wider steel wheels/tires with caps and have some fun.
......voice in the back of Toms mind.....5.3LS......TKO.........disc brakes.........
:D I am sorry Tom. Sort of. I really dig the car and I know it will be cool no matter what you do to it. But this is afterall a place where more power is a good thing. I just can't help but be a bad influence here.:D
Looking forward to seeing MUCH more of the new ride Tom:thumbsup:
Can we get some interior, engine, chassis shots? I would really like to see how it all looks stock.

Tom
18x7 all the way around (on the last three I owned I used a S10 rear end and ran a 18x8's on the back) I'll have to dig out some paper work on the backspacing, it's been awhile and a few sets back.....memory is not what it used to be.
front tires: 215/40-18
rear tires 225/40-18
The car is bagged..
