Are the LS3 coilpacks and valve covers different than the LS2's? I need to buy some for an LS3, but can't find any. All I find is the ones for an LS2.

i think you need to get the brackets for the specific coil packs. they may xover and work but there are some differences i know of in atleast the truck coils and corvette/camaro coils.

Yes, they are different in terms of shape. Now, as far as the valve covers, they are the same. The mounting location on the valve covers for the brackets are in the same location. But, the brackets themselves are shaped different and you have to get the appropriate coil for the correct brackets you have. You can use any bracket for any LS. Because like I said they all mount to all LS valve covers. So, if you get LS2 brackets make sure that you get LS2 coils and they will mount to all LS valve covers regardless of the numbers. I went thru this same dilemma because I bought my coil brackets and valve covers off of ebay. Then had to figure out which bracket I had in order to buy the appropriate coil.

I found a guy selling the coils, brackets, and wiring as a set. He said they came off of an LS2 engine. I was just curious if the technology is different between the LS2 coils and LS3 coils and does one put out more spark than the other.

truck coils are the hot ticket, the ones w/the heatsinks onthem d585. i had some but w/their brackets they sit way up on the valve cover and look fugly. they stretched my msd wires too much, so i took them off and put my corvette ls1 coils on. ls2 or 3 probably the same performance wise

I saw on LS1tech that the truck coils make a noticeable difference in performance....as much as 9-10 rwhp??? Sounds odd, but the dyno sheet showed it.

Not always true: they are much better than ls1 coils, but results vary.
