View Full Version : John McBride in Muscle Mustangs magazine
I want to give John McBride kudos for his article on swapping a T5 in place of an AOD in his 92 LX Mustang. He wrote the article and furnished the pictures.
Check out the January issue of Muscle Mustangs. Congrats, John!

Thanks. I actually did the photography and took good notes on each step of the process. I also made recommendations on things to fix while you had things apart and things you should think about upgrading while you've got it apart. It was fun and I got to hang out in a high performance shop for a day shootin' the bull with the Mustang freaks. They had 4-5 Year One cars there getting tuned. I even saw the red 68 fastback that has the billet specialties wheels on it 17s in front, 18s rear - the red one with the mod motor. That car is hot in person!
Anyways, my little red devil 1992 5.0 Notch isn't a bad little car. It's got the eibach lowering springs and some Steeda suspension components on her. If I keep her I'm throwing in a new rear, and a 5 lug conversion. Then I've got some bullitt wheels I'm slapping on it. Anyways, not a classic PT car but a fun daily driver.

Well, I just ordered a brand new 8.8 rear with 3.73s from Ford Motorsports friday. I'll be picking up the 5-lug rear disc brake conversion kit from Mustang Parts Specialties in about a week for the rear and swapping on the front SN-95 5-lug swap which includes the spindles, calipers and rotors. Then I have a new set of 17" bullitt wheels and tires I'm throwing on it.
Since it's just my daily driver I'm not ready for the Baer brakes kit on it yet. That's going on my 85 Notch that I'm hopefully gonna have a new set of 18x8 and 18x9 Falken Koblenz on by January. Shortly after that, the coil overs at all four corners will be added from Maximum Motorsports. I'd like to have the 85 ready for the Year One Experience but I don't think I can have the suspension in by spring.

Be happy to post em. What'll be nice is I'll be going from a 16x7 to a 17x8 and with the slightly wider track the disc brakes will add the wheels/tires should sit perfectly just tucked inside the wheel wells. Not like currently where the rears are tucked in about .5" on each side more than the fronts - I hate that. I'm one of those wheel/tire/stance freaks.
