Here's some quick PS work based on my favorite shoebox, Roy Brizio's gold '55.

I really like his understated treatment of that car. With an AME chassis underneath it, a healthy SBC and a 6 speed, it should be a lot of fun to drive too.

modern wheels look dated on tri-5s. Just look at any tri5 built in the 90s...

Stick with something classic like the top rendering. Be different!

Dale Boesch is building a killer 55, that will be at some shows this summer! I have not seen a top on a 55 like this one before ever. Plus with all the cool parts, stance, etc she is definitely a head turner. Can't wait for Columbus!

Your whole engine bay looks great.

I really want to pop 'em thru the hood, so I'm thinking we'll use a removable rear facing hood scoop since the weather up hear is very changeable and it ain't going to be a trailer queen...

Inglese is offering an 8 stack - complete with FAST EZ EFI --- short or long stack option... for about $5300

The velocity stacks are available from lots of suppliers... it's just a bore size issue...

Also - KINSLER FUEL INJECTION has many different manifolds and all manor of parts and pieces... I've just not found them to be "great" to deal with... they're more about the race crowd -- and not so good with hot rodders, that kind of need some hand holding sometimes. Me <------------- :>)

Greg, I appreciate the info and advice. Sounds like a good deal. I'll check them out.

I know you're very happy with Imagine. Do you know if they offer the same style setup?

GregWeld

Skip...

Imagine Injection (Bob Ream) only has the "billet" style bodies that resemble IDA carbs.... the workmanship if excellent - the throttle is smooth as a babies bottom... etc... but it's only "one look" all models.

Bob is one of the nicest people on the planet... I like to support people I like... even if it's not "exactly" the look I'm after... I really kind of wanted the Enderle style (a little old skool look)... but tired of working with Kinsler... a supplier that seemed happy to sell but not so happy to support. That just wasn't working for me.

I email Bob with a question - he calls me 5 minutes later...

I really like the looks of the new Inglese version... old skool - but with updates.. but I have no experience with them - and they seem to have one of the worst websites in the modern world. After trying unsuccessfully to find out some info on their website - I just gave up - and called a local dealer for FAST and COMP CAMS etc - and 5 minutes later I ordered the EZ EFI harness and ECM for my "conversion". I'll be selling the Accel Gen 7 set up - harness - and TWO ECMs and I have a couple different Dual Sync distributors (one large cap and one small cap)... but will wait until the FAST EZ EFI is here and I'm certain it will work on the new 406 I'm having built.

If it works as promised - Then I'm going to do a cross ram or IR on the LS6 I have for the 37 Ford. Keep your fingers crossed... I'm really quite excited to think I could just plug this bad boy in - answer some questions and have it fire off and run... I've been messing with the EFI for 10 years now - and have spent THOUSANDS of dollars on dyno time and tuning after a change etc... :woot:

Skip

I don't want to jack the thread -- but in a nutshell - the cam in it went away... seems the cam was a casting rather than a billet like it should have been...

Since this is now rebuild #2 - (so original build - and now 2 rebuilds)... I decided to de-stroke it. I want to be able to put a few more miles on it between rebuilds. It needs a little more skirt to the piston... The combo of 4" stroke - 6" rods - std deck height - just doesn't leave enough piston in the bore to make for a "long term" build.

No jack issue, you've certainly earned your tri-five 'press pass'. :D

Regarding the ITB issue, I'm going LT-5, so of course I'd need a custom intake. Since I'm still trying to locate a 'clean '55 2 dr post body locally, I have time on that issue.

I'm not an LS in everything guy obviously, but any other reason(s) besides adding a lot of additional complexity at this point, for not putting one in your '56?

GregWeld
03-15-2010, 11:20 AM
Skip....

I have multiple motors -- so can "choose" anything I want to do... and in fact have an LS motor on a dolly under the stairs in the shed...

But to answer your question why I don't use an LS in the 56... I have one word for you... UGLY.

While I love the technology behind the LSx powerplants -- they are by far the ugliest engines ever built...

The other reason is -- even though I can hide the butt ugly coils and change out the intakes etc -- is that the Nomad has an "old skool" paint scheme - and I have a lot of dollars invested in old chevy motor "stuff"... I think I could build about 3 complete motors - and even have "spare" billet serpentine belt systems etc.... so I figure -- might as well use this stuff up. I don't generally ever "sell" anything... just stick in on the shelf. And the Dart Little M based SBC I have is rebuildable a couple more times.... so I'll stick with it until it's toasted... Then I'd do a big inch LSx - with 8 stacks... etc...

Fernando agrees with you... 'It's not how the motor feels, it's how it looks.'
