My wife and I recently lost out 10yo Boxer "Harley", we had a rough last month with him as he was coming to his last days and after telling our kids was VERY hard let alone how hard it was on my wife and I. We have had 3 Boxers over the past 12 years. Roxy my first past unexpectedly years back and Tyson we had to give away to a family friend after we found out we where pregnant with my son now almost 2yo. Harley was a hand full but the kids loved having him around and if you are a dog person you understand how hard it is to be without a dog after so many years. Harley is deeply missed but we felt it was the right decision to include a new puppy into our family.

My wife found this little guy from a Boxer breeder in Hahira, Ga. and he should arrive here this Saturday.

My kids said they liked Mater (from Cars..."my name is mater, like tomater without the ta"). ...

Or we thought of Tiago.

Anyone have idea's of like one of these names?

He just has that look.

Good looking pup! I am also looking for a Boxer pup, but up here in BC. I recently lost my 9 year old Rotti to Cancer, his name was Diesel. Good name for a car guys dog. One to run past your kids any way.

A friend of mine named his Boxer Deeohgee. D O G. Get it? LOL!!
Anyway, I am no good with creative names. I had a Red Boned Coon Hound named "Red". (yes, he was red). And another named Chase. Because that is all I did when he was a puppy, chase him all over. He was a runner. My current dog is a golden retriever named Dusty. (Gold Dust is part of his AKC name)

Good looking pup there Nick. Best of luck with it. And sorry to hear about loosing the other. I know how hard it can be.

I'm looking for a Boxer myself. Good looking pup. Any recommendations where I should look? Prices are a little high where I've been looking but I don't expect to find one cheap either.

Nice puppy. Sorry for your loss. I've been there and done that and that is tough!!! Nothing like losing a member of the family, even it is the family pet. It's really tough.
Boxers are great family dogs though. Have fun!!

In honor of my automotive idol, my dog's name is "Foose". It's also fun to yell out "The Foose is loose!!!!!" when he escapes from his leash.

I probably couldn't live without having dogs around. Congratulations on you're new puppy!

They say not to name a dog with anything that rhymes with "no" or other commands as it's said to confuse them. So I'm saying no to Tiago.

I'm going to also suggest Rocky as he was a boxer too. (kind of)

Edit: The brindle coat is great.

Yea I don't know how you would find one in the states and get him across, not sure how that works. Have you not found any Boxer breeders in Canada?

Well if you are in the market, man I just spent a ton of time searching and sending emails to all kinds of breeders so if you want leads I have them. There is a litter that is only a week old up in Truckee I almost held out for if I had not found this guy. This breeder I found our dog from has more. Feel free to let me know if you want help:thumbsup: .

I found several in Canada but nothing in BC, I still have my female Rotti, so I will wait for a bit. Not really fair to her to replace her brother that quickly.

My old boxers name was TUFFY...

You're suppose to name dogs with names that end with an "E" sound. Not sure why - but I learned that somewhere.

Having said that - our beagles are named Alice and Elvis (you ain't nuthin but a hound dog... LOL). Obviously we let the kids name them 14 years ago.

I also had a Springer named HEY YOU... 'cause that's what everyone said to him... and the name stuck.

You're doing the right thing in replacing your beloved dog with a puppy. It's about the only thing you can do to ease the loss.

When I was a kid we had a boxer named Buster Brown or Buster for short. Really fun dog with tons of energy. He would actually chew the bottom of doors and make what looked like little cartoon mouse holes. Man that made my parents mad.

Nick....Any pics of the new pup? Did you decide on a name? Sometimes it is easier if you get to know the personality first. Then a name might seem right that didn't before. Best of luck with it.

We have three Boxers. Two brothers that turned 8 this past August named Tucker and Gus. Melissa and I got a 3rd as a Christmas gift a couple of years ago. His name is Brutus. In the past I have lost two Boxers, Rowdy and Nikki. We have several friends that own Boxers. They are AWESOME dogs!

How about Champ? That's a good name for a boxer. I had a pitbull named Champ, he died at 6 years old from a siezure. He was a great dog, it's hard when they pass, but even though he died relatively young i know he had a good life, unlike many pitbulls!

I am also looking for a Boxer pup, but up here in BC.

I know of someone who had a beautiful litter of European Boxers in BC. I sent a text to see if she has any left.

We also had a litter of 8 Boxers. We have 2 left and although we had planned to keep both, we have since decided to sell one of them so if anyone knows of someone in or near MN that is looking, you can send them to www.minnesotaboxers.com (http://www.minnesotaboxers.com)

Here is a picture of the pup that we have available:

Here is a bit of wacky advice that I received when we brought our pup home.
I tried it and I firmly believe that it really works.....

Dogs are pack animals.
All pack animals have an Alpha Male in their pack.
This dog runs the pack and is in charge.

Most dogs exhibit poor behavior because the owner allows the dog to believe that they are the Alpha male.

So here is the advice..
The Alpha male in packs always eats first.
Thereby leaving his scent on the food..
When he is done eating he then he "allows" the the rest of the pack to eat..

So everytime you put food in the dogs dish spit on the food.
This leaves your scent as the alpha male on the food.
Your dog will then be conditioned to understand that you are the alpha male.

Along with this one should also at all times make sure that the dog knows who is boss. Allowing them to "get away" with undesired behavior will
undermine your alpha make status..

Scott

p.s. Keep an eye on your wife to make sure that she does not start spitting on your food

Named him Brutus and had a tag made Sat. AM, we got home from the pet store and of course the tag was missing so now my wife said its a sign we shouldn't name him Brutus. It was one of my daughters that lost it and now can't find it:rolleyes: .

I will post some pics later when I pull them off the camera.

Nice looking boxers:thumbsup:. If i didn't have 3 kids I would have more than 1 boxer for sure:D .

How about a Boxer rescue? Rescued dogs make great pets. Both of my pitbulls were saved and they are great with my 7 and 3 year old niece and nephew when they visit me! Just my .02 cents.

Is it true that in the old days the white boxer's would be killed? And if so, why? I heard something about that years ago and i never found out if it was true.

That sounds similar to the merle coat with some other breeds, but they only have issues when two merles are bred.

we have been rescueing our dogs right off the street. we have a warehouse in south central los angeles. we are up to 11 dogs right now from jack russell mixes to a neopolitan mastiff. I find rescue dogs to be great, but when you have kids in the house its best to be safe and bring a dog up with the family. good luck with your new baby.

I had heard the same but that link above I feel is more true than what people say. If you look around there are a ton of white boxers, puppies and full grown that you can pick up as your own.

Doing great and getting big. Kids love him and it really made a difference getting a puppy. Hate to day it but I can see now how me watching my last boxer going down hill didn't make me feel good everyday. It was like I was waiting for somehing to happen. I am glad it was not to bad and that we have been able to get this new guy in our family. I have a ton of pics but have been really busy with work and have not had a chance to post hem but I will soon. It was awesome to find out how many of you guys have or had in tha past the same bread of dog. Thanks for asking.
