View Full Version : Pics of a 285/40-18 mounted on a 9" rim?

First of all, I know it's not recommended, but I was curious to see if anyone has done this with a 285 Nitto and a 9" rim. The Nitto is supposed to have a nice square sidewall, so I was hoping it wouldn't bulge too much on the 9".

My problem is I would like to run a 245/45-18 tire on the front for some tire height, but I'm afraid it won't look right with the same tire height in the back if I run a 275. I know it's only .4-.5 inch difference, but I like a little more height in the back for the aggressive look.

Thanks everybody!

If its not recommended by the manufacturer, its not safe. That is if your talking about the tire on that width of rim....

perhaps the wrong forum to be asking for pictures of an tire mounted outside the manufacturers recommendations.

There might be better websites out there for checking tire sizes, but I stumbled across this one recently trying to settle on tire sizes for my project.

That tire doesnt look overly wide at all. It looks good. In that pic they are off the ground right? But I dont think they will compress much beyond the profile shown. Oh, and what are those tires. I was on a site and those type of tires were shown on another car and a guy was asking the same thing. I like the tread pattern. JR
