.... 20 years after you sold your car, someone calls you up and says, "i now own your car"

What would you say/not say? would you be happy? sad?

Just curious, i found the old owner of my car when he bought it in 1984. I'm considering calling him.

I sold my Camaro a few years ago on eBay. Solely for the reason that I wanted it to disappear from my city. I don't want to see/know anything about it.

I wanted to remember it the way I always loved it.

Why did you want it disappear? I'm curious.

Do you want to ask him a question about your cars past? If not then I dont see the need to call him. I'd like to track down some of my old cars to buy them back but that is a whole different story.

Yea, the main point is to get more background on the car, who bought it, what for...etc...

My question to you is, what would you do if someone called you? :)

A lot depends on what kind of buyer the person is...The gentleman who bought my last project, I still talk to whenever he has questions. I made very sure that when he was looking at the car that I told him about every known shortcoming the car had, or things I had meant to do or improve on, but never did...My Dad still sees the guy at shows with it.

Sure, if, 20 years from now, someone was to look me up, I'd be glad to see any of my old cars again, no matter what shape it was in, since I knew I had given it my best effort during the time I'd had it....

Why did you want it disappear? I'm curious.

A couple of reasons:
- If he beat it to crap, I couldn't handle seeing it.
- Also, if he wanted to re-do it, I also wouldn't have to see it.

The point is simply keeping the car, in my mind, what it always was to me. An unspoiled memoryif you will.

I always love Charleys responses to posts. Simple, short, to the point, and alot of times involve profanity or insult. I wish I could do that!!! ;)

But yeah. Call him, it cant hurt.

well i got off the phone with the guy last night.

Man, was he happy to hear from me!! LOL!!

He said that it was his first car he'd ever boughten and his first loan for a car. He said it was a family car that the whole family loved. He even said that he has a picture of it in his office and thinks about it all the time! :D

His exact words were, "Man, I've wanted to know what happened to it, i hated to sell it but i was broke and needed the cash"

Me - "well, i found it sitting in a barn almost rusted through, it took me 3 years to get her back to life, but its done"

Him - "I'm just happy that its taken care of and not wrapped around a pole somewhere!"

So, i have to email him with pics and hopefully he's going to email me some photos he had and whatever info of the guy he bought it from! :D

I was thinking that If he was a car guy he would like to hear about his old car. I'm sure you made his day, although he might be bummed out he had to sell it. Post the old pics when you get them.

There are lots of 64 Continentals with suicide doors down here in Florida. It must be all the old people that had them.
