Sometime within the next month or two I'm going to need my exhaust manifolds, pre-turbo tubing, turbo exhaust housings, wastegate pipes, and downpipes coated. It's a combination of cast iron, 321 stainless, and 304 stainless.
What is the best ultra-high temp ceramic coating available right now, who makes it, and who is a good shop to apply it?
I figured someone out there has some experience and input. My local shop uses Cerakote stuff but I'm willing to drive or ship if there's better out there.

I used Tom Nelsons guy and would definitely use him again. I figure he does a ton of turbo stuff. He told me the black coating is the best toughest that's available, he uses that on Indy car stuff. I didn't want black headers so I opted for the silver which lasted very well, up until the dynoing deal where it turned some (lots of heat but not the air movement of driving down the road, plus fully loaded engine). His silver coating was nicer than any others I've seen, and if I wouldn't have dynoed would have hung in there very well. Maybe there's something even better now.........

His products hold up great in turbo applications, Ive even used header wrap over the top for another layer of protection. Even this no cracking for flaking.

Based off their websites, it looks like Xtreme is using Techline coatings and Performance is using Cerakote coatings.
Performance lists Cerakote's satin colors as being good for 2000F. I knew they would take higher service temps than the standard "shiny silver" but I had no idea they were good up to 2000F. Stands to reason though, I used Cerakote satin titanium on my headers when I was running the Procharger and I really liked the color. It held up fantastically well too-- didn't even discolor near the exhaust ports after years and thousands of miles of use unlike the previous shiny coating when turned gray and started flaking after the very first WOT pass with the Procharger.
Good info so far... keep it coming!

What about the newest JetHot product ? I saw it recently in a Racecar Engineering magazine and it was 2400 degrees.

How about pics of parts wich has been dynoed like hell ? That would tell the real story.

My research led me to choose Swain Tech coating.
ONly comes in white but can be painted with high temp paint. I painted mine black and it is hanging in there staying black on mild steel turbo headers.
Swain tech is actually a .015 thick ceramic coating vs the others which in my opinion are glorified powder coats, but its not like I've used all of them. I just had poor results getting mine coated locally not sure what product they used. The Swain tech seems to insulate really well although it is a "rough" surface which some may not like. It was also more expensive then the other options and took longer not to mention shipping to NY.
Note that mild steel headers will exfoliate small little silver balls through the coating its kind of a weird deal but doesn't cause any harm and not that noticeable cosmetically. But stainless doesn't do that.
