chirping noise from driver side? help!!

My daily driver (2004 Z06), has an unusual chirping noise coming from the driver side of the engine bay (I think). It isn't particularly audible at idle, but at around 2000 rpm it becomes pretty clear. Annnd, the sound increases frequency with engine RPM.
I've done some research on corvette and LS1 forums, and have seen that the problem can be a number of things, ranging from a bad alternator pulley, tensioner, noisy rocker arm, or bad lifter (among other things).
Does anybody have any experience with bad lifters, or anything that sounds remotely like what I'm describing? I'm gonna pull the belt off and fire the car up to see if the noise persists, but aside from that is there anything else i can do??

well its propably not a bad pulley, not even sure what how a pulley is supposed to go bad? ... your looking at somthing that is worn to a point where it starts giving off an audible noise, the bearings in the idler pulley is a good guess.. it doesnt sound like a lifter, that makes more of a ticking sound, and low PS fluid level is more of a snarl... but incase your definition of chirp is different from mine, chek the ps fluid level.. :D

replace the acc-drive belt and replace the idlerpullies while you are at it.. if that doesnt cure it.. try as you described to start it with the belt removed to rule out bearings in the alt, ps, ac etc... but my bet is the belt/idlers

next order of buisness is to pull the valvecovers and check rockers etc...

ps.. ive always found that the best way to prevent chirping from the drivers side, is to not let my girlfriend behind the wheel..
