Congratulations to Team Prodigy members Jeff Kaiser and Nathan Devonshire. We took their cars to the Camaro Winter Nationals and both cars did very good. The Winter Nationals is hosted by Eckler's who owns Classic Chevy, Late Great Chevy, Worldwide Camaro Club and of coarse Eckler's Corvettes. The Winter Nationals is a big time event that brings in the best Chevy's from as far away as the west coast. I did not get a official count but Saturday there was probably 300 to 350 cars in the show.
The judging is a 1000 point judging and 3 judges crawl over and under the car picking it apart. Every cars starts Friday at Classification with 1000 points and is classified and the first 25 points are judged in a tech inspection looking for everything from high beams and turn signals to cigar lighters and glove box lights working! Saturday morning the cars are judged by the 3 judges and points are taken off in categories including under hood, paint / body, interior, under carriage, Cleanliness alone is like 100 point cumulative of all categories areas. Dust or water spots on the differential tubes, your losing points!
We took 2 of our recent builds. Both cars are driven cars, but the weather for Friday was horrible and there was a threat of really bad storms, so no way was we going to drive them 70 miles in the rain and have the undercarriage judged. So we trailered the cars which threw us in the much tougher trailered classes. The trailered class is often loaded with hard core indoor show cars with zero miles, so we were a little afraid of being judged harshly.
Jeff Kaiser's car is a original Corvette Bronze 68 RS/SS Big Block Car. We do not do much restoration anymore, but this one intrigued me and I guess I wanted to see if I still remembered this stuff, LOL! Jeff's car did extremely well and was awarded 988 points, a Platinum certificate, 1st place in it's class and also received Best Paint Restored Camaro for the entire show! Trailered Restored at the Winter-nationals no matter what the car is extremely tough! This car has a few original items, a original tire pressure sticker that has some yellow ting to it, a original trunk mat that is nice but has a slight wear to it. Original seats that are super nice but not new. So there were a few points deductions right there. So 988 is a big deal, especially with a car that specifically had a NOT A SHOW CAR in the restoration contract! But winning best paint against the caliber of cars at this show.........................that is a tough one. So we are thrilled and very proud.
We also took Nathan Devonshire's Green 69 Camaro Pro Touring. Nathan has not ever taken delivery of the car yet. Nathan just got home from a military deployment and the car will be headed to New Mexico now that this show is behind us. Nathan's car was a real crowd pleaser and brought constant questions and compliments anytime we were near it. Nathan's car was not intended to be a Show Car either, but it came out so nice I thought it might do well so I asked Nathan to let us hold onto it and do this show. This turned out to be a good move. The car was judged VERY harshly. The judges usually spend 30 minutes on a car. I stood 100 feet away in the Twist Machine booth and watched the judges Pick Nathan's car apart for 1 hour and 10 minutes. At the end of the day they only took 22 points off 1000 and she scored a 978 Platinum and 1st place in it's class!
So all in all a great event for us. Got to hang out with my buddy SteveO, and also Bill was there with Evade, but that deserves it's own post.
So thanks to our customers for trusting us with their dreams, I think we over delivered in both cases, and that's what we strive for.

Jeff's car is a dash / dash paint code but the original window sticker shows it is special order Corvette Bronz which killed spectators dead! It is a super loaded bib block, A/C, Automatic, Deluxe interior, Fold Down seat, Even has the stereo multiplexer. look for a future feature in Super Chevy magazine

Nathans car is 72 GM Seqouia Green and Gunmetal Silver, has Hotchkis TVS, Boze Tach wheels color coded, Corbeau seats. A super clean mild Pro Toruing car with very distinctive original cues. Look for a future feature in Camaro Performers.

The 383 is somewhere in the 475HP range, backed with a TKO600 and 12 bolt 3.73. A March Styke Trac dresses up the motor nicely.
