SR-63 buy Bent Custom & Peformance

It's been in the works for a little while now, but we finally got it on the ground this past weekend. A 1963 chevy fleetside pick up. It started out as a rear suspension fix. We all know how these projects end up though. We ended up scratch building a hole new chassis for it. We designed a custom rear shock set-up so I could mount them parallel to the frame and a set of highly modified rear trailing arms. The front suspension is a combo of Bent and a big help from Roger at Iron works. We still need to finish up the chassis but you get the idea on how some of the cross members will look. The pics w/ the bottle jacks show where it will be at ride hight. It will also have an ls-1 for power and a few other goodies. Hope you guys like it ?

Very well done. I like the thought and work that went into the rear setup. I love things that are mechanical and are functional and aesthetically pleasing at the same time. I am really wanting one of these for a "parts chaser" and running down to home depot truck.

I hate builds like this. Why? Because...I just do!! Naw for real, I hate builds like this because I can't get enough of them. LOL!! I can't get enough of the pics and the ingenius fabrication. Sooo sweet I tell you. I have a 68 and wanted this body style. Something ironic is I looked for this body style for 2 years(a good one anyway) and right after I found my 68 I found a perfect 66. Too late by then because I had already spent my money and would be too much of a hassle to sell the 68 just to get the 66. Anyway...........more pics please. You know how much we all love pics!! :hail: :hail:

Dood !!! You would poo your pants at how perfect this body is. I know these trucks like the back of my hand and when we blasted it I could'nt beleive what I found. These trucks are natorious for rust. This thing is perfect.

It was fun doing this one. Mark gave me a "problem statement" about laying the shock along the frame, forward of the rearend. The SolidWorks part was the fun part. I even have a short motion study video clip. I'll see if I can post it here.

Actually it is not one-to-one. Mark and I discussed the desired shock extension/compression dimensions and I calculated the arm lengths accordingly. Bottomline, you don't want the shock to work "more" that it would in its normal mounting operation.

Nope The rims and tires that are on it. Customer already had them.

It's Rogers front suspension design, Good question cause I need that info also.

We used bronzed oil lite bushings. For the size bolts we used there's not a small enough outside diameter bearing for the design.

I noticed there's no vent window on your rendering, do you have a method of doing that lined up?

I've stared at the doors on mine pondering that and never could figure out a way to have a functional one piece glass in there. It looks great on the render, cleans things up nicely.
