WOW!

I'm programmed and run some pretty cool stuff before, but that is beyond anything I could do. I've done a lot of 3D machining (wireframed and/or solidworks stuff), and even added 4th axis rotary heads into the equation, but they still don't compare to that.

I've actually played with the manufacturer's machines before and they aren't bad. the only thing is, that chances are this particular machine is probably only good for making things out of aluminum. A lot of times you lose a lot of rigidity and horsepower in those types of aplications. You just have to be careful you would be buying it for the right application.

I have been in many shops where the owners have bought these impressive looking machines, because they saw them rippind through aluminum and wood blocks at the trade show. Then they bring them into the shop and expect me to cut titanium and inconels with them. I usually end up doing a lot of yelling and calling them an idiot, so the next time they would bring me with them before they purchase.

It would be a cool machine to make some sweet billet aluminum accesories on though:unibrow:

That would be a very chilly helmet to wear, though...suck the heat right outta your head...:D

Lillard mfg has a machine that will do that once it is up and running. he said there is probably several hundred hours in writing the program for that piece. Here is another video.

We have a big CMS 5 axis machine here at work. I have done some programming on it. Its takes alot of time to program and machine that helmet. Probably over a week on the machine alone.
