A little history on the car. I got this car as a wedding present from my dad about 5 years ago. I saw the car in a dirt lot with the words for sale written on the windows in soap. I immediately called my dad to come and take a look at the car and within 20 minutes we pulled in the lot only to see a man scrubbing the soap off the windows. We both thought we were to late as we approached the man. As we got to talking to the man he said the reason why he was scrubbing the soap off was because he was tired of getting all the phone calls about the car. He then said he was asking 2k for it but he would would let it go for $1500. My dad and I looked at each other and said SOLD!

For the next 3.5 years I drove the car "as is" just to get around on cold/rainy days, living in San Diego those days are few and far apart. I then decided it was time to fork out the time/money and get this project going. It came with a 307 2 bbl with a power glide, manuel brakes and no power steering. This car was named the "Hammer" for its plain jane features.

Day I brought her home:

Now my dad and I have made this a father/son project and I have to say it probably has been the best time I've spent with my dad. Long weekends and alot of grunt work and this is what we got.

Small block 400 bored 30 over. Now a 406 with Edelbrock aluminum heads,Edelbrock Air Gap intake, and 600 cfm Edelbrock carb. 1.6 Erson Roller rockers, Melling cam and lifters, Pypes 2.5 inch full exhaust with X-pipe and Flowmaster 40 Series mufflers. Thorley ceramic coated Tri-Y full length headers. All new bushings and control arms. Slotted Baer rotors. Trans Am sway bar, and TH400 Transmission w/ a stage 1 shift kit. It has a posi 3:31 gear ration rear end.

With my dad's killer set up/garage/shop, we built this drive train in about 6 months.

The rear end was cleaned primered and painted, ,with new bushings we pressed on. Eibach lowering springs (front and rear) 1.3 inch drop. Gabriel Shocks. Also installed a rear sway bar. Rounding off the rear end is a Finned Billet Differential cover.

One of my dad's buddies found a pair of original front fenders that he did up (stripped, welded trim holes, and primered) and sold to me. I uninstalled the old fenders and had a pair of inner fenders cleaned and ready to go. I thought I would save some money and install them before I dropped it off to paint.

I am currently in a deal with Anvil Auto. They are supplying me with a cowl carbon hood, deck lid, and A-pillars! When those items arrive I will have more updated pics.

Sweet deal man. I'm a little jealous. My dad is 1500 miles away and he's got the same short temper I have. Or he used too. I still remember him throwing some wrenches across the garage. It was priceless.:D

Thanks guys.
Yeah my dad and I get along great. There are those occasional short fuse moments, but not usually with me. Mostly when parts dont fit like their suppose to and what not. The best perk about my dad is that he is retired military and works at Auto-Zone part time. WooooHoooo!!!

I got my Covan's thunder road dash insert today. I got everything mocked up, but I still need to cut the original to make the insert fit. I wish Covan's would have given some direction in the cutting process! I'm kind of weary as I don't want to cut anything I might need.

It is the carbon insert with ultra-lite gauges. All mechanical except for the Speedo.
