I'll try and explain the part I'm looking for. I need the part of the rear body panel from a 67-68 Camaro where the gas cap attaches. I was going to build one, but I thought I would see if anyone replaced their rear body panel and has an old one kicking around that they could cut the gas cap section out of. Here's a link to a classic industries one that shows the area I'm talking about. Thanks in advance.

I don't think I have any mud in that area. I can cut the section out for you if you need it. Send me an email [email protected]
You just need the section around the gas filler neck? Mine was damaged along the bottom edge that's why I replaced it. The top is fine.

Yeah I just need the sunken area where the gas cap fits. I was hoping to get about 1 or 2" all the way around, preferably cut out in a square shape, to give me some extra metal to play with and for fitting. Will send an email later when I get home. Thanks.

That's a good idea if I ever heard one. Did you get one yet? Anyone have another one I could splice into my 67 Firebird rear panel?
Sorry to threadjack

Scherp69: Did you ever get a hold of the section you needed? Just curious how it worked out for you. I just checked your link to the Goodmark page for an entire repro tail panel - 89.99! Wow. I had to pay $300 for a Goodmark tail panel for my Firebird. Maybe I should just buy a new one and cut out what I need

No update yet. Haven't received the panels yet. Will update as soon as I have something to update.

I may be removing and replacing my tail panel. It's a BRAND NEW repro panel, and I'm not happy with the overall fit after I got it welded in and the bumper test fit.

Yeah, none of these panels fit right. Mike the section is on the way. Wife put it in the mail on Tuesday I think.

Does that mean there's an extra one floating around that I could buy?

It's very possible. I'll let you know by this weekend what I'm gonna do, but it's looking like you'll have one.

I just placed an order for the new tail panel. I should have it next week. Once I get the old one removed, I'll contact you and we can work things out. I may work on removing it this weekend. Before I cut the old one up, I'll call you to make sure I understand the area you need.

Just to update....got the panel. Thanks again RJ. Finally found some time to install it and test fit the filler cap. Still need to finish up the welding and get the filler tube fitted. If you want to see more pics, check out my build thread.
