View Full Version : Another reality car TV show...
I am stuck in the house for a few days recovering from surgery and am getting a lot of TV time in. I see this show today called "Chop Shop" and it is based in England. They are building a funky looking wide bodied BMW 3 series car for some local event. In the rear of the car the new fenders look like they add about 5 inches per side each. The part that really gets me is the wheel spacers, they are at least 4 or 5 inches wide!! There has been nothing done to make the track width grow other than these spacers. I can't wait to see the end of this when those things let go and the wheels fall off!
They are calling this a "fully built super car"!!

That show is the biggest hack job show out there.... all the work on there is complete junk....hideous metal work....tons of bondo....ugly designs..... the work on there makes me cringe.
It looked REALLY bad. In raw metal it was bad, I can not imagine how much mud it took to make it ready for the black paint it got on it.:_paranoid

Eric - Are you still taking your meds!?
They're one at a time - not one handful...
Ned -- What do you really think?

On the note of new shows...While I was at Foose designs a few days ago they mentioned a new show "Hot Rod Build Off" will start airing in the US later next month.Same format as the successful "biker Build Off " series....
With Mr Foose himself as judge/adviser....
We have Chop Shop here in Australia on our cable ...and I think it is crap too..another to avoid is Beetle Crisis....

I saw that show, and that makes West Coast Customs and American chopper interesting. Seriously who picks these shows?

Now something like this would really have my interest and I would be something I would look forward to watching.

Right after suffering through about 10 minutes of chop shop and the screaming owner - I watched about 30 minutes of Choppers. Man has that family fallen apart. Speed and Discovery Channel have lost it... or at least they have lost me.

I am shocked everytime I see that the show is still on the air. I think the level of talent at "Chop Shop", makes the old "Pimp My Ride" look like superstars.
it seems as if the "designer" on Chop Shop thinks about mugging it up for the camera first.... then trying to build a quality car.
I can't imagine anyone seeing them on TV, and then saying to themselves "man, I've got to have them build something for me!"

I like Beetle Crisis :)
At least its "real"....the guys dont know much and dont have much $$ but they fully admit it. They do the best they can with what they have....I think it does represent a glimpse of what 90% of guys go through when they are building a car in their garage. Its not always pretty but isnt that really true for alot of builds out there? At least they arent acting like its a million dollar super car or doing it to sell off to some unsuspecting sap or to build for a paying customer.
