Hope everyone is well. If you have seen the classified section of lateral-g over the past few weeks you would have most likely seen first my WTB ad, then, my ZR1 for sale ad and now, another WTB ad. The past 5-6 weeks have been a cross between a roller coaster and a haunted house. And, here we go again for (hopefully) the last time for a while anyway. Here is what I am looking for:
* Would prefer a 1st gen. Camaro but would consider other cars
* Needs to have a modern-day drive train. IE..LSX, T-56, etc
* Would like the car mini-tubbed
As for how much I have to spend........that is awkward. Put it this way, I have a range I am working with and have cash in hand and am ready to buy now. Mike (Mazspeed) as well as Kevin from CAR and Jimi from FM3 \ Optima should be able to "vouch" for me. I believe Steve Rupp can serve as a "voucher" as well. Thanks guys.
So, please shoot me a PM if you have or know of a really nice, finished car for sale.
Thanks guys, :lateral:
Chris
Good luck Chris.

Eric and Robert,
Hope you are both well. I have spoken with Randy a few times and really like his car. Just not sure I am ready for another Chevelle. Top notch car though, that is for sure!
Take care,
Chris

If you're like me, you will have a hell of a time finding the right car. There are so many unbelievable deals on projects right now. I'm talking 50 cents on the dollar. You may be able to build the car you want for 100k now with all these motivated sellers. It's not quick but you will get what you want. It's not like we can't find you the right builder.

Chris,
I understand, but it is everything you asked for, just the wrong body right? Maybe you can sweet talk him out of Re Peeled? A nice second gen is never a bad thing right?:D

I know Randy well, that will never happen. Too much history there. The Chevelle is a top notch car. It's just as good as the Camaro's on the board. It's a proven car with a pedigree. It may not be a Camaro but it's still a mainstream car. I don't think you would be disappointed. Just my opinion.

Chris, you are smart to be looking to find a finished car, there are some unreal deals out there. You really should consider going to Barrett-Jackson...Some of the best deals get struck privately between buyers and sellers outside of or after the auction process...Good luck! -Rob

Rob,
Hope you are well. I am not familiar with deals made at BJ separate from the actual auction. Are you talking about buyers of cars turning right around and selling them or ???
The reason I ask, and I know I am beating a dead horse here and this is not a knock against BJ or anyone who buys and\or sells there, but I just get hung up on the fees BJ charges. I would much rather apply that 16 or 18% towards the buyer and seller and not pay Keith.
Any insight would be great.
Thanks Rob,
Chris

I'm putting my 69 Camaro up for sale as my priorities have changed since I bought a lake house over the summer (and I have another car I may start to build).I was going to list is very soon or was thinking of sending it to Best of Show in Ohio to start marketing it. Below is a link to the article on it in Chevy Hi Perfomance magazine from August. It was built by Route 66 Motorsports here in New Lenox IL (same builder who built Project American Heros II that sold at BJ for $500k)

Who is Keith ? I have no problem with them getting their 16%. They advertise all over the world, bring in buyers from all over the world and have 1000 cars in one place and they are all going to sell...Ask me again though in 3 weeks after I have sold 3 cars there..at no reserve....:willy:

Charley,
Hope you are well. Keith is Kieth Jackson. Not like I know him.
I agree with all of your points; BJ does bring in genuine buyers from all over. That said, I just personally have trouble with the fees. Wish there was a better way. Like a lateral-g auction?
Good luck Charley, I am sure you will do well.

You could easily spend the 10% premium you are charged flying all over the country looking for a car to buy. Barrett-Jackson has all the sellers haul them to Scottsdale for you. You can see 1000 cars for sale. It would take years to go all over the country to look at those same cars. Just trying to put it in perspective. Same thing with selling a car. How many tire kickers do I have to go thru just trying to sell one car. There really are some great cars there. If you have money burning a hole in your pocket, book a flight and see if there is something you like. Factor in the 10% in the price you will pay and don't go over that amount. Why worry about what the other guy is making ? Worry about if you are getting a good deal on what you want. There are plenty of good deals and if I was in your position I would absolutely be there. Supposed to be a killer Pro-Touring Mopar at Russo-Steele..

That's my thought as well. I don't mind someone making a buck on me as long as the transaction makes sense. You see a car you want, you decide what you can afford and that's it.

I think you will be just fine. BJ will have some buyers for the witch, count on that.
