so tonight i come home from spending time with the family and check my e-mail and see a paypal receipt for paypal payment when i havent brought anything in over a week and it says a $500 camera was bought today on ebay with my paypal. i have the persons name and address where it is supposed to be shipped to and its out of state. so already ive filed a claim with paypal and they are investigating the order and i was able to get a hold of the last person working at discovercard tonight and they canceled the payment and the cerdit card number so it cant happen again. then i emailed the seller of the camera and told him the whole deal and theres no point in shipping it because there will be no payment. but after doing more looking there was another purchase of $300 on the card thats not ours, but they already left at discover so have to wait til monday on that one. and i already changed my paypal password. is there anything else i can do to stop this from happing again?

A quick story on PayPal....
I was on a road trip - and received several (like 8 or so) notices from PayPal on my iPhone. Since they were sent to my iPhone - I ignored them. Figuring it was just sales crap.
When I finally got to a hotel with wifi - I opened my laptop email and the PayPal emails numbers about 2000! Upon opening the first email - expecting junk mail - it notifies me that they've transfered $20 from my checking account to some overseas dump... you can figure out the rest of the emails where the same - one about every 30 seconds... until my checking account (40K +) was EMPTY.
I called PayPal - and some dippy woman tells me she'll send me papers to "file" -- I said - Lady -- do you see how many transactions we're talking about - and I'm not filling ANY PAPERWORK AT ALL -- She starts counting "one - two - three...." At this point I said -- sweetheart - we're talking $20 per transaction - forty three thousand dollars worth! I'd now like to talk to your supervisor.... I get transferred - explain the same story - the new IDIOT does the same counting... at which time I say - Please transfer me to your supervisor! I get some executive security guy this time - explain the story - and I tell this guy... "my bank opens in 30 minutes.... I have a private banking relationship... they WILL reverse all of these transactions... all I have to do is ask... so YOU can fix it right now - or they will. End of story". He says - Okay -- it's obvious that this is fraud - and we'll fix it within the hour. He did what he said - and all was good.
I did ask him how this could happen - and he wouldn't tell me - except to say it was obvious someone had "hacked" my PayPal account... not my computer... and I asked him - "wouldn't you have some fraud alert when you see a zillion transactions like this.... and he said... no but looks like maybe we should..." DOH!!
Hope you get it all fixed! Mine was actually quite easy - but I carried a fairly big "stick" and got to someone that understood that "threat"....

Amazing that they would be that STUPID! But then - that's why they're thieves... because they're STUPID...
Glad it's working out - now if you can just get an arrest... The problem is the police do nothing - and even if they do - then the courts don't. That stuff so pizzzes me off! I want somebodies azzzzzz and I want it to be painful for them! Otherwise - there's no deterrent.
