Thanks curtis.

I was looking at your camaro and I was wondering...

How'd you make the 18x10 fit in the rear of yours?

WOW.. you need to use the search function... there are a million posts on that sublect... the most used way is the minitub... with or without changes to the rear suspension..

it would seem the new upcomming fad is widening the fenders check the post "fat bottom camaros"

I did use the forum search and I've been looking on other forums. I was asking him about his specific set up.

I was just seeing if I can fit a 18x10 without a mintub on a 1967. As I was SEARCHING and looking through Spiffav8 post and mod list. I dont think he has a mini-tub job.

Dan,

18x8 and 18x9's. 19's are tough due to the fact that 19's are not available in a 9" wide hoop in the wheels you were interested in unless we narrow it for you.

-Danyour correct dan he doesent have minitubs, the fender are just rolled and the b.s must be spot on, he was also run a 285 tire.

justin,

do you think there would be a problem with a 18x10 in the rear like how Curtis had his?

I'm not going against your recommendation of 18x9 in the rear. I'm just trying to fit the widest rear wheel possible.

Also what rear suspension modification do you guys recommend without spending all that money on a 4-link set up?

I was thinking around a 3'' drop in the rear and a 2'' in the front?

Dan, I would need measurements of your car in order to see if we can safely squeeze a 10 into the rear. As far a suspension goes, a simple Hotchkis TVS kit work wonders on these old cars and is a lot easier on the pocket book.

Hmm... I'm just looking around all the forums. I really want to run a 9.5 or ten in the rear. But I just dont know if it'll work. I'm not going to slam the car so....

But'll we'll talk about that in the emails. I'm hoping to get some time off from studying and call this week. Almost the 11th.....

We have done a lot of 9 and 9.5, you will have no problem with a 19 X 9.5 wheel. I would do 18s and 19s.

JustinB
12-07-2009, 10:29 AM
18 or 19x9.5 would be great if they were available in the wheels you are interested in. .5" sizes are only available in two piece if we custom order a set narrowed for you or do a step lip. 19 wheel hoops in two piece billet are not available in 9" period unless we narrow the wheel hoop. If we step up to a three piece wheel then we can build 9.5"s all day long without issue.

I did not see a particular wheel you are interested in did I?

As for suspension, we have 5 different 4 link, 3 link, and torque arms we sell and install that will suit your needs depending on how much fab and welding you want to / can do.

Call me and we can talk abpout different suspensions.

And check out our builds with those suspensions at our website in the project section.

Dan and I have been talking for about a week about his particular application. Thanks for stepping in and offering your opinion.

Thanks for some of the inputs... it's going to be 18s all the way around....

Just need to pick the wheels now. Bonspeed or Rushforth? I need help here with a style. Either the typical 5-spoke (live wire/rushforth or SS/Bonspeed), mesh look (GT-B/Bonspeed), or multi spoke (rated -X/ Rushforth).

Heres attachment of the camaro.. Hopefully someone is good with photo shop..

Try the new Rushforth Night Trains. Great spin on the typical mesh design. Just different enough to stand out from the crowd but still keeps the mesh feel and look. I think they are really classy looking and would look great on almost any car.
Just my .02

Jason, I have a shot of the Night Train wheel but it is too big to load here. Do you have one you can post? Maybe even one with a black center like on the orange Mopar?

That'll be great if I can see a picture on a camaro. I found a couple online but they aren't on a camaro.

I like those Rated X but what are your opinions?

Picking a style of wheels are killing me.

My opinion is that the Rated-X looks awesome on everything and we've put them on everything from 33 Fords to brand new full size trucks and musclecars ranging from the 60s to the modern ones.

As far as the Night Trains on a Camaro, we're building a set for one right now but as of this moment, the only ones in existence are these but a good rule of thumb when buying wheels is if you like the wheel, you'll love it on your car.

haha. I would love to see a mocked up picture of those night trains on a black car... maybe a black face with brushed hoop? or even gun metal with polished hoop.

the bumpers and stuff on my car are powder coated black just for some more info.

Dan--if you live in So Cal area, let me know---you can come by my place and we can put a front and rear on one side of your car---you will know right away whether or not you like the size, model, color, etc--although I know Rushforth Super Spokes are not on your list---you can still get a feel for a black center wheel with a polished hoop. Jon and the guys at Driverz Inc were a huge help in getting these Rushforth's to fit they way they do--I highly recommend them.

I really like the Rated X also. IN fact I had my car designed with those in mind. Black centers, brushed hoops. That was before the Night Train came out. So now I am riding the fence on which one to go with. You really can't go wrong either way.

Oh the pressure!

So what size and style did you decide on anyway? I do like the Night Train.

Almost any black center / brushed lip wheel will look very aggresive with you colored bumpers and trim.

I'm still stuck on the "mesh" look or a multispoke like the Rated-x......:willy:

And I'm trying to decide on black or dark titanium look.

Bonspeed GT-B. Mesh style wheel, flat center cap, powder coated black or brushed. Going to look killer

Is that white bumble bee staying white? If so I probably would not introduce a 3rd color like gunmetal or titanium. I would probably stay black or brushed center. If there was no white bumble bee, either black or a grey titanium or gunmetal will work fine, you will just have to decide if you want to introduce a second color. If you color match the bumble bee to the center of the wheels, gunmetal or titanium centers with a matching bumble bee will be smokin cool detail.

As for mesh or spokes, I find black mesh wheels at 20 feet become solid black wheels, hard to pick up any spokes detail in black mesh wheels. 5 and 6spoke wheels all have more detail at a distance in black. Mesh wheels in Gunmetal and Titanium have more spoke detail at a distance then black, Gunmetal and titanium work great on 5 spokes also.

Here is a silver car we did we which color matched the bumble bee to the wheels centers. Maybe someone could photoshop the car black for you?

This one runs Boze 9s on the front with 265s on a stock subframe and 315s under mini tubs in the rear.

My number one choice was the matte black with a polished or brushed lip.

I'm just worried about the car having too much black or the wheels won't "pop" because of the multi spoke or the mesh covers a lot of the area in the hoops.

I guess this is a dilemma that all wheel buyers go through.

ughhhh... :faint:

Do it just like Daves in the picture above. Black or at least a dark center, brushed or polished lip.

You do realize that any of the combos you have posted will look great on there right? Buy the wheels, put 'em on and be happy!

Agreed, I'll vote Night Trains!
My above pic is polished (brand new on FUel), was supposed to be brushed -clear coated, but a little order confusion, don't really care as the polished looks killer, my point either way can't go wrong.

I vote Night Trains too. The mesh design on those is much more open than a typical mesh wheel. With a black center and a bright lip they will look just killer on a black car.

OK, We took a vote Dan and you HAVE to get the Night Trains with black centers and brushed lip. No choice in the matter now man. We voted, you lost. Go get the wheels.
