Replace 2piece rear main seal?

Do i need to remove the crank to change the rear main seal on a CBB 396 or can it be done without removing the crank?

Are you going to try and do this with the engine still in the car?

I don't think you can get the oil pan off.

Most just pull the engine if they really want to replace it.
