Hey guys, even though some people look down upon sites like Myspace, and Facebook, I feel it's a good tool to use for people like us. I was wondering if you guys have a myspace/facebook (I prefer Facebook). If anyone is Interested... (My facebook, add a message along with the request to let me know your a Lateral-G buddy!)

I don't get these Facebook and Myspace places -- why would anyone want one of these?

Isn't it basically the same as this site? I mean we have PM's, we can post pictures, etc. What's the difference? I don't have an account on either Facebook or My Space. Sorry. I'll just stick to Lateral-g.

Chris --
That's why I was asking -- I just don't get it. Don't get the point - and it seems to me like more "hassle" than it's worth. Posting up and answering questions and stuff.
If my friends want to know what I'm doing - they email or pick up the phone...
So that's why I was asking what the point of this "pages" are?

Maybe its are old school ways Greg. Dont know much about it either but I do know all my kids have one or the other. From what Ive seen on theres it looks to me as a bio of there hobbys, interests, vacations to show or interact with others. My wife keeps a handle/parental on My-space with the kids. I guess theres been issues on posting coming through that are not kid oriented. That all I know and I'll stick to the phone or emailing.

Facebook is much less "kid" oriented than My Space. I am 39 and just signed up on Face book last year only to get reconnected with old school friends.
Unlike the reunion sites it is free and you can have live chat one on one if you like or post on a friends home page. There are MANY members of Lat g who are members on Facebook, I talk to some of them too on there. It's just another way to keep in touch.
I do know people that spend all day on those sights including having it all forwarded to cell phones. I think that is taking things WAY too far. I log on once or twice a week to check messages or say hello to someone but that is it. Some people need a 12 step program to quit those sites.
the last thing I want to do is tell the world via face crack that I went to the store, ate food, took a pet to the vet....all WHILE I am doing it! Why???
I don't get it.
My Space is a totally different story. Face Book came to be because My Space missed the mark and turned into a free for all freak show. Facebook is nothing like that. Kind of like the difference between Lateral_g and some of the "less desireable" car sites with all of the drama and language.

I can answer that question about my own situation. Both of those sites helps me stay in contact with friends and family while being deployed orany other situation the military puts me in when I have limited telephone time.

A great example of how these sites should be used.

Since I am the creator of this post, I'll give ya my insight...
I'm only 22, it was introduced to me in college, yes, it's just another social networking website, one of the firsts. I have 200+ friends on there, which most are not car oriented freinds, college, high school, and what not.
A lot of people, artists and such in my industry will post more stuff on a number of different websites, why is beyond me...most of my stuff is the same.
With that said...hell, its many sites to keep up with, I just created an account on Motorburg. It's a really cool place, designed for automotive art, it's one of my favorites now.
I "Check" my myspace, I have Facebook open most of the time. It's just out of ease.
Have a good one guys.
