Kind of a lower buck customer project.
It's getting an LS engine and a lot of suspension work.
We got a complete 38,000 mile aluminum 5.3 from a Buick Ranier for $700.
The rear end is a 3.42 posi 8.5 inch 10 bolt from an S10 2wd 5 spd 4.3 which is the same width as the original Vega unit and it has disc brakes.
We're calling it the "Flying Turd"
The flying turd.....
That should haul ass with the 5.3 in it. I bet it would be a blast to drive too.
This one will be fun to watch, thanks for posting!

Looks like a solid candidate. It'll be interesting to see what you do with it. I hope you stick with the sleeper looks.

Are you going to cut the front bumper to look like a mini split bumper camaro.

No, I personally dont like the split bumper on the Camaro either.

Did you pick the LS3 because of its short length?
Jeff, what is your solution for the truck intake being so tall and the hood so low? Are you going to fab a scoop of some sort for extra room or will it all fit under the stock hood?

It's not a LS3 it's a 5.3 Alum block. I picked it cause it was cheap and light, 100lbs more than the original alum 4 banger.
If you look at the pics of the engine, it has a LS1 intake and water pump which will fit under the hood. I bought the LS1 intake and 2 other spares off craigslist for $35 ea.

I believe there was a blurb in PHR a few months ago. The car nosed into the wall at Great Lakes Dragaway after an errant shift. I am pretty sure the driver was unhurt.
