I just twisted my ankle real bad and I'm leaving for SEMA on Sunday.
How am I going to walk through the convention center now. I might have to rent one of those little scooters.
I'll probably be going to the doctor and see if there is any serious damage.
This Sucks. I was so excited to go to SEMA and now I'm a little concerned.
This would be my 7 or 8th time to SEMA.

Scooter, wheel chair, crutches (but that would suck)

Sorry to hear about the injury and I hope you are ok. But one of the electric scooters would solve all your troubles and give you a great way to carry all of the handouts of new products (brochures) you are sure to collect. Now you don't have to hand carry those all over the place! See. there is a silver lining after all!

Actually -- My buddy rented a scooter for the '07 Sema show -- and it was easy for him - and handy as hell for me. We'd meet up - Chevrolet booth - and I'd dump all the crap I'd collected in his handy dandy little basket!! Saved my hands and I could collect 3 X's as much garbage liner!!

If you do have to rent a scooter, a word of advice......make sure it's fully charged every night and keep the charging cable with you. We've taken my mother in law to Vegas twice now. She's 77 and uses a scooter. If there is any carpet that you'll be riding on, it drains the battery very quickly. She has a small scooter and one of the days when she decided not to charge it overnight, even though I told her to, we had to stop a few times just to let it charge for an hour here and and hour there. Just a word of advice to make a scooter experience even less stressful.

After spending 4 or 5 days pounding my feet through all those isles - I wish I had a scooter to ride on and carry all my stuff.... everyone should get scotters as part of the admission deal (I'm sure OSHA would agree !).

I'm thinking you should put a cup holder on that baby with your favorite beverage in there - and just tell them it's your doctor prescribed meds for your twisted ankle

Enjoy the show and hope you start feeling better soon !

Oh yeah - I see where this is going.... Alcohol for the pain - then he falls on his ass getting off the scooter - kinks his back - MORE "pain killer" is in order... Passes out from the pain killer and forgets to charge the scooter - stalls out in aisle 7... People (as usual) just walk past him - on Saturday afternoon he wakes - realizing he's missed the Optima Challenge AND his flight... and the hall is empty and locked up - him inside...

He breaks the fire alarm to summon the fire department - and when the police arrive - they arrest him for breaking and entering... He's sentenced to 6 months in the pokey and draws OJ as a cell mate. A fight breaks out - and he's sentenced to 6 more months for disorderly conduct. He's released November 3rd of 2010 = just in time to do SEMA again.

What does a scooter cost?
This happened at work. A lot of BS paperwork. Funny thing is I have to fix the issue so no one else gets hurt. I just stepped in the wrong place.
So far just ice and Ibuprofin and prop it up. So hopefully no big issues.
I'm now home and self medicating!:unibrow:

You can rent them in Vegas. I looked into it when we took my mother in law, but thankfully Westjet allows you to take your own with you and ride it right up to the plane. Here's a few places you can rent one from. There about $150 a week for the biggest one. If you want to see more, just google handicap scooter rentals las vegas. Hope this helps.

P.S. They don't even blink twice carrying your drinks in the things. My mother in law has a basket on the front. She rides around with her purse in the basket and a couple beer sticking out of her purse:cheers:

THEY HAVE SCOOTERS RIGHT AT THE SHOW!

There is an office you register at and you can get it by the day or the whole show. It wasn't that expensive. Maybe $200 for 3 or 4 days... if that. I just can't remember. They also have them available at most of the hotels - all you have to do is ask. Remember! They want you down on the floor drinking and gambling not up in your room!! LOL

Kevin, you will be fine, lots of pain killers!! I have had to work through some pain before at SEMA....you see a couple years ago I had a Vasectomy on the Friday before! In hind sight that was poor planning...but I powered my way through the week and made the show every day all day, even the parties in the evenings!

I remember Frank giving my wife and I a ride back to the room after one of the web site's dinner parties and complaining about his feet hurting...well after I said I was a little sore as well and Jen told him why Frank was like WHAT THE HELL you are crazy!! :wow:

LOL, good times!! See ya next week!!

Forget SEMA Tony!! The couch and a frozen bag of peas!

You must be a TRUE gearhead to willingly do that to yourself!

I have not been down that road ....yet....but I am thinking car parts can wait.

You guys are too funny! Not sure I would do it again that way....but honestly it wasn't too bad by Tuesday.......

I don't take a lot of time off work, so my thinking was that I would 'recover' in 'Vegas! :captain:

You need to hire a couple of "booth girls" to help you around the event.. for purely medicinal reasons of course!

Kevin, think of it this way, you of all people have a great excuse to spend extra time (resting) at each booth in the Wheel & Tire room!!

It's feeling better than I expected today. I think the self medication helped Lol!
If I can keep from rolling it I think I will be fine.

1. Rent a scooter. You can use the basket aforementioned alcohol that works on pain.. :)
2. If you return it w/o adding a cool sticker to it, you fail.
