Hi, Just got my chassis on the table, wondering what ground clearance does the C5 cradles have with standard tires. The front and rear suspension cradles are they fitted level or are they angled front or rear:)

What I did was level the mounting surfaces of the cradles and set them up on the table. Im not sure about ground clearance, I used and excelt spreadsheet to map out the locations of the rear lower controls. Hope this helps

Hi, Would you have a copy of the spreadsheet. I have no measurements at all regarding the suspension.

Well if it is the spreadsheet that has been floating around, it is not very precise. A 1/4 here, 3/16 there and and like and inch or two in the track width.


The way we did it with the one car we did with a cradle was to level the mounting tabs of the cradle to the world. That will make the Lower Control arm mounts go down hill slightly toward the front of the car, this improves stablity under hard braking. Then set your spindle up on a riser to mock up the wheel and tire you plan to use. Then set that level to the world but make it so it will slide on the table as you adjust your suspension geometry the trackwidth will vary just a bit. Then basically move the cradle up and down until the ball joint is square to the spindle at ride height.

Make sure the eccentric bolts are centered in the adjustment and even front to back. I have seen guys measure the distance front a arm to spindle and cut a spacer to square the spindle to the ball joint. The spacer method would be a pretty easy method.

Hmm...must not be the one I have. I do know the Performance Trends data is quite a bit off, enough to make it somewhat useless.
