I'm about ready to try and dial in my Lakewood scattershield, but have a few questions. I have the LS1 scattershield and will be bolting onto a L92. Today I went and bought a dial indicator and a magnetic base with adjustable arms. From what I've read, I need to put the magnetic base on the crank or flywheel. It says that it's best to put it on a flat spot on the flywheel and that it does not have to be centred to the to the crank and it will centre itself. What I'm wondering though, when I'm putting the magnetic base on the flywheel, how do I know where the right spot is? How do I know that when I'm turning the crank, it's not the location where I put the base that is affecting my readings? I know that when I have it in place and ready to go, and I will zero it at that point, but I'm still trying to get my head around where exactly I put the base. I've looked at Classic Motorsports and Keisler's websites and couldn't find any videos showing this. I found pics that show the opening of the scattershield with the dial indicator in the middle, but nothing showing where and how to put the base. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Pics would help too. Thanks in advance.

You need to take out one flywheel bolt and mount it there. Keep in mind that you are rotating the crankshaft so you will be measuring the distance from that point around the entire circumfrance of the circle.

Thanks Todd. I hope to get to it tomorrow or Friday. I'm sure I'll have more questions once I get the readings. Thanks again.
