That's a really slick way to do the 3 link. What type of joint is that on top of the diff? Sweet build up.

It's a rubber biscut setup from Howe! Used them a long time ago on cup and busch cars before they outlawed them.

Why were they outlawed? I'm guessing not a safety issue. Just curious.

You're doing great work Mark. I still love your 2nd gen.

I think Nascar wanted all the car to be the same so they didn't have to try to police serveral different setups. It has gotten worse through th eyears. Hence the COT! Like the IROC series. Same cars different drivers

Looks good,I run that 3rd link biscuit in my race truck, have you mocked up a trunk floor and a back seat, the rear kickups look awfully tall and long, you also seem to have a backround in stockcar fab?

We are going to put bucket seats in the back similar to the new GTO.The upholstery guy said something about 4 flow fits.
Mark has been in the fabrication end of stock-car racing for many years. He has worked for chassis shops and Winston Cup teams.

This works well on stock cars because of the cage and overall chassis configurations. The main structure of most stock car chassis' create a kind of truss effect. In this application the underslung stiffeners will mostly just add weight. They won't do much to stiffen the chassis. The rear clip including those stiffeners still welds on at the rear cross member. This is the point that the moment created by the rear suspension is going to act on. If you would have used smaller rail members on the upper rails, this may have provided more benefit. I just don't think you are going to have much deflection in the joints of your main rails. This is just my opinion. The chassis is looking great you guys do nice work. By the way this underslung deal makes getting the rear out without scratching stuff a real pain. LOL Been there. Keep up the great work.

I built a couple of rear clips for for racecars including my own with underslung rails, made them out of 1x2" and attach to the x-member inboard about 12" wide and go back on an angle to meet the frame rail drops 36" wide and back as far as the bumper, this would create a better triangulation and be more effective in this application,I was gonna put it in my 66 Chevelle project cause I to am not going to put a cage in it also, but Im on the fence .In the racecars I mount the fuelcell and lead ballast on these rails,my 2 cents,Rich
